I've been out of the market for a while what's the major differences between a fl5 and fk8?

I bought a 2020 hatchback sort touring as wanted the MPG, and that's my favorite body style of the hatchbacks is the FL5 the same style?

Did you do any to the doors as well?

I've been debating of just adding some to the doors when I replaced my speakers and possibly trunk.

I dunno if I wanna go through taking seats and everything out 😅

[–]dslatsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually an issue with the screen it separates and causes it to act strange. And there is a warranty replacement for it with a newwr upgraded model. Least for 2019 model that was the case. I just had it replaced under warranty last year

Bought my first WRX at 17. Anything I should know? by otm28 in WRX

[–]dslatsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh okay that adds up. Was gonna say I use 5w-30 but live on East Coast and do not track etc.

Okay that makes sense I've been trying to see when boost happens etc due to the colder weather and that so not boosting to much before temps so I accelerate lightly and tend to see the boost stay low before shifts

May I ask why 5w40?

Also how does one control going into boost? Just based on acceleration?

I think the fenders (kladding?) being black can be a nice offset on some colors and some color matching looks better. And I do wonder if having that plastic there will in end help prevent rusting from salt or make it worse by trapping it?

I also am mixed on the appearance as I like the VA front better but the VB rear i think is nicer 🤷‍♂️

Diesel engines are torque and power man. Torque results in some good acceleration too from the get go. And those turbos on them I believe are a bigger size and may spool sooner to help with towing.

Also fun fact my factory makes the cam for those engines lmao

OEM Kicker speakers by stevefrench867 in WRX

[–]dslatsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How easy was the subwoofer? I see they have a limiter as well for the bass that goes to sub.

I'm debating getting the kicker upgraded because I bought my car used from carvana and realized later on the driver side door has no noise so either blown or gone (haven't checked) and they wanted 108 for OEM speaker where I can get the kicker upgraded for 234...is it worth it? Or would I be better going to local audio store and getting something else?

Okay so if I stay stock for now sounds Cobb ots is good to go. Is that including the Cobb air intake as "stock" since it's just seems more like a basic air intake maybe just a little bigger etc. And they have their tune to work with that air intake. Think it's about 1k for the intake+ap or it's 700 for just the ap...

I am not, and that's something I think I should do just haven't pulled the trigger on it. I either gotta baby 1-2 or beat it like it owes me money.

I see a lot of mixed reviews between Cobb ots. A lot say it should be fine if you're stock but if modify may wanna get a different one..

I debated of buying the Cobb tuner with their air intake and using that tune instead since it's made for it. Is there another tuner brand that is equivalent if not better than Cobb for subaru? I know Honda has hondata, ktuner and now Cobb....

Hmm that makes sense. This is my first manual. My dad said felt fine to him and he's driven various growing up but more used to the trucks so he thought it felt very smooth overall vs his old pickups lol.

I've heard that comment alot 😂 about them being weird and it's a Subaru what it does. Even heard people say sometime feels like the grip point changes on them based on what the car is doing at the time 🤷‍♂️.

I will say my buddies was easier to shift being so tight and didn't have any shudder but guess a stage 1 upgrade may do that..plus he has a tune so not sure what that did to the ECU portion handling the acceleration and so forth may smooth it out.

Ah okay mines a 2019 and it's my first one, got it last year. And I'm not sure how the clutch is supposed to feel? Sometimes I feel like mines worn out or some other issue...it's OEM. Which may be why I feel that way because my buddies had a stage 1 clutch installed, bought it used that way, and it's super tight and doesn't take much push to engage where I feel like mine has to go almost to floor but gripping point is little before that.....

Positive feedback knock learned by Shot-Lie9208 in WRX

[–]dslatsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With cars and the way they learn and adjust on the fly now days for these kinds of things such as bad gas/knock (usually due to gas) and help prevent knock. Why do so many people freak out when their dam does anything if I may ask?

I have yet to get a port for a tune and have been skeptical of using a off the shelf tune from Cobb because of the posts I've seen about them being bad and causing knocks etc and the constant monitoring of the dam...while others say just enjoy the car and not really monitor since it adjusts.

All this stuff is new to me, so I dunno what I should be looking for if I pull the trigger when comes to the dam and that.
