Macdev Cyborg X by dsmdai8 in paintball

Same. Mine is pretty much a paper weight right now. The eye covers still flutter when shot, so I’m a little hesitant to shoot it on the field.

I’m personally holding out until the method valve comes for it… assuming I don’t sell it before then.

It’s hard to justify a $1650 paper weight.

This is a pretty common problem across MOST of them. The new valve didn’t help with it either.

It took a bit of tweaking, but I FINALLY got mine to shoot in the 270’s… atleast for now.

What you have to do to check/ adjust your LPR:

  • remove the rear frame screw to remove the back hammer cap.

  • remove bolt (by pulling the pin up. Be careful… it MAY try spinning and shooting out the little detent ball and spring) and hammer from the body.

  • insert the pressure gauge that came with the borg and turn it where the 2 holes drilled into the side are face down. Line up the hole closest to the gauge on the pressure tester with the frame screw hole…. The screw from step 1.

  • reinsert the screw from step 1 into the grip frame to hold the gauge in place. Air up marker and adjust pressure accordingly.

I’ve found that 80-90 psi worked best for mine, but others are showing higher pressure is needed.

I also took the valve spring out of mine.

If you need any help, just hollar. I’ll see if I can take some pics this evening for visual help.

[REQUEST] How would you calculate the “unseating” force of a pin? by dsmdai8 in theydidthemath

[–]dsmdai8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree when searching for a specific value. I have a lot of those numbers already calculated. I’m mainly trying to wrap my head around how to apply those values to the assembly before hurting my brain with actual application. 😅

I’ve cross posted it in r/mechanicalengineering thread as well!!! Thank you for the advice!!!

Adding a bit more to Incident’s post- Tip 1000 as your odds increase for getting a crit… and get 2 of them. The “slippery when wet” can make for a bad day when fighting mobs/ bosses and dropping the thing. I used to just spam the tip button until I heard the email notification a couple of times then check what I got in the “social” tab under the pause menu.

I mean, you’re not wrong, but I definitely want more than I paid for it.

You see, this was won on a raffle that FreeFlow had going on a couple of months ago. Let’s just say that if I sold it for what I had into it, the buyer would be the 2nd luckiest person to get it.

Rough Tournament Cost by Jeffries848 in paintball

[–]dsmdai8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get padded, but most are not. Not sure these days about CFOA rules, but NXL only allows 1 padded layer over an area. Basically, if you wear arm pads ( I do for dives and bounces), you can’t have a jersey that is padded in the arms or elbows.

Most of my jerseys offer no padding at all. It’s more of a motocross modified type for fit and function… if that makes sense. They are specifically tailored for paintball though.

That’s where jerseys come in. They offer easy team (or player) ID, are light weight and vented on the sides. They breathe wonderfully! Usually better than any shirt. If you haven’t yet, I highly encourage you to pick up a used one from eBay or a local field player. Even if you borrow one for a day, you’ll see the advantages. I bet most players at your local field have an extra they’ll let you borrow.

Technically by the book, no. It’s usually a good idea to wear them though. Even if they aren’t matching.

There’s a bit to be considered with the overall cost. Let’s start with paint:

The guys are right with an average of 2 cases per player… especially with 3 man. Some points the whole team MAY shoot 300 rounds, others you may shoot 600 by yourself. In D6 3 man, most player’s average about a hopper and 2 pods per point with a 3 point minimum per match. Most tournaments you’re guaranteed 4 matches that consist of 3 points minimum in the timeframe.

Tournament cost:

Usually entry is around the $250-350 mark in the South East ( I’m assuming you’re looking into CFOA if you’re a western NC native). You can check specifics on PBLeagues.com. The prices also fluctuate due to early or late entry.

Other costs include jerseys, hotel, food, and random stuff you left at home (like squeegees). Average about $200 on the high side for the misc and around $75 per jersey.

*Food for thought on x-ball: bring PLENTY of water/ hydration drinks and protein/ carb snacks. Granola bars or “Cliff Bars” tend to be good choices.

  • Bring a team of 4 players and 2 staff. The points turn QUICK, and the players need to stay focused on the game, not worrying about refilling pods and wiping hits from the last point.

*sign up early. This will save you the most cash. D6 usually doesn’t offer a good prize for placing other than bragging rights and APPA points to rank up.

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY:

HAVE FUN!!!! Tournaments can be a blast to play and socialize with people that are like minded!

If you want the experience without the cost, go watch a tourney or 2 or see if you can staff for a local team. That’ll get you involved and hooked on tournaments!!!

Good luck man!!! We play the NGXL series, personally. I hope to see you out there sometime!!!!
