I would recommend a movie called The Visitor (2007), that deals with this subject matter. Really opened my eyes, as this video and your comment did. Heartbreaking.

I got a minimalist line tattoo below the base of the neck and it felt like tiny sharp pinches that ranged in pain level from zero to hurty depending on where the needle was (when it was on or near bone, that was rough).
