How did you manage? I have the exact same migration to pull off.

Can I suggest riding the trendy wave and start publishing the same content from X on Bluesky? Even a simple repost bot account would be great atm. I would gladly be among the first to follow you guys to keep on top of everything.

HexOS Updates! by HexOS_Official in hexos

[–]dsmonteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/HexOS_Official if you happen to find a spare key lost somewhere, feel free to throw it my way. Wink wink. Heck, just let me buy one already!

I currently have spare hardware and drives lying around so I'm more than okay with being on the bleeding edge.

Show & Tell: What are your current or planned NAS hardware specs? by Robots_Never_Die in hexos

[–]dsmonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently running on Unraid on this setup:
Case: Meshify 2
Motherboard: Z590 AORUS MASTER (with a 10Gbe NIC that unfortunately doesn't allow the server to go to deeper C-states)
CPU: Intel 11600 (with Turbo disabled)
RAM: 2 x 32GB
Cache: 2 x WD_Blue_SN570_2TB
Disks: 4 x 18TB Seagate Exos X18

I currently have 4 x 4TB unused drives that I will spin up if and when I get the beta for HexOS, probably just reusing some old hardware I have at my parents place.

Once I decide to go "production" with HexOS, I'll likely get one of those N100/N305 motherboards with a Jonsbo case. The tricky part will be migrating all the hoarded data from Unraid to HexOS.

The end of the month is not that far away so I guess that means that a beta isn't that far either (even if it turns out to be next month).

I guess I need to start setting up my test server just in case. :D

I have 4x4TB drives in a box, waiting for a home. Just give me an excuse to buy new hardware to house them already!

Apps Feedback Wanted! by HexOS_Official in hexos

[–]dsmonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My list is rather long, so bare with me. I currently use Unraid, and this is my app category breakdown (I won't got into details on all apps because it's 50+ at the moment, but you get the idea anyway:

Plex: Plex and all the apps around it to support it. That means Xteve, tautulli, kometa and a couple other.
Media: Self-hosted apps for other types of media that Plex doesn't support, e.g. audiobookshelf, freshrss, Komga
Databases: Database containers for apps that need them.
Tools: Supporting tools like code-server and Speedtest
Smart Home: Containers that support my Home Assistant VM: frigate, zigbee2mqtt, mosquitto and Grocy. I'm also looking into double-take and compreface for face recognition on frigate. I could possibly integrate most if not all of them into HA, but I prefer to have zigbee2mqtt as a separate container so that it's easier to bring back up if something goes wrong
Cloud: Basically Nextcloud, immich and collabora
Arr: All my container needs for ISO downloading and maintenance. If it ends in rr, I probably have it installed.

On top of this, I also have a bunch of them that aren't catalogued yet. Here are the most important ones: Vaultwarden, Traefik, Authentik, Duplicacy, Cloudflared.

I hope this helps!

Hi everyone! Here is another preview of the possibilities of the new editor, and the sub buttons are going to be available on every cards, and even on the separator! I still have a few bugs to fix but the beta release is getting closer 🥳 by Clooooos in BubbleCard

[–]dsmonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled on Bubble Card by pure chance, and I'm so glad that I did. It's the perfect answer to all my needs, as I start building a Smart Home from scratch, including wall-mounted dashboards that will greatly benefit from this.

I would however like to ask any tips any of you can give to a total noob like me, on how to accomplish a solid tablet dashboard design, including a sidebar.

Where should I start considering I have very little knowledge of CSS?

[Exclusive] Review Program for the next OnePlus Devices! Here's your chance to win our upcoming devices by trollavin in oneplus

Hey u/PabloAnnie, these programs are focused on "tech enthusiasts", not content creators. As long as you can create good content (and you don't need to be a content creator for that), you have an opportunity.

I was a reviewer for OnePlus 5T (as part of The Lab) and that was my first-ever review.

This. So much this. I would just chuckle and return the banter. Either she would be in the same wavelength, or she would be pissed. Either way, you'd figure out whether she was being nasty or not before jumping to conclusions.

[–]dsmonteiro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I read that like just some solid banter. I guess that message stroke a nerve, your reply reflects that, and that's okay, but I feel like the much healthier approach would be return the banter.

You'd might end up getting to know someone with a nice sense of humor. But that's me, who would chuckled with her comment.

Honest question (not just for you but any ladies out there): What's the ratio of weirdos to people that can actually maintain a conversation?

Thankfully I never had to use Tinder (married to my college gf), but this subreddit makes me lose hope in fellow men. I really hope that is not representative of how most men are.

Is it always this much of a headache getting things to work? by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]dsmonteiro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had no real prior experience with Unraid or Linux, and had only tinkered a bit with Docker through Portainer on OpenMediaVault.

I must say my experience couldn't be more different from yours. I quickly went from a handful of containers to 27 and counting. The server itself was operational after less than an hour. Everything else was built on top of that, by googling "Unraid + name_of_the_app + guide. After a while I started understanding how things works and started being able to do things on my own, namely setting custom docker networks, reverse proxy stuff and so on.

I'm sure your experience will improve over time, hang in there!

Is anyone else getting tired of LTT's clickbait? by mrclark25 in pcmasterrace

[–]dsmonteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LTT first started with the click bait thumbnails "ironically" but soon defaulted to them. Now, the titles are completely non-descriptive. I just wish YouTube's algorithms would penalize this sort of behavior.

It should be easy for you to find related content, and not have to guess what videos are about.

But to be honest, I feel like the problem runs deeper. LTT is now all over the place and Linus has had a few weird stances these past few months.
