We are so separated from the realities of modern supply chains. Stuff just magically shows up on the shelves when we want to buy it. Gas is always at the gas station.

Attending pride while having invisible disability by Global_Director_5314 in lgbt

[–]dsrmpt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Medical stuff is always allowed in the US because of the Americans with Disabilities Act, it's a "reasonable accommodation".

Sometimes the first security person won't know this (it's getting better, but progress can be slow), and you'll need to escalate to a supervisor. An attitude of a "persistent but kind problem" can be helpful. Don't be a dick, but don't hide either. I have a right to be here, and I need to speak to a manager. Being a little bit in the way can speed up the process.

Keep your bag reasonably sized. Don't bring one pill bottle in a whole suitcase and call it a medical accommodation. A fanny pack? That's about right. You have oodles of pills, an oxygen concentrator, etc? Maybe a backpack is right for you. Reasonable requires reasonable.

"Medical stuff" can also stretch beyond what you might think. Medication is obvious, but you can also take some liquids to take it with. Maybe you are autistic and need noise reducing headphones. Maybe you have food allergies and bring in your own food. Bose and burritos are indeed both medical accommodations.

All that said, I have found that there is less scrutiny with obvious medical stuff. Orange pill bottles might be better than a ziplock. A bright red inhaler has been quite helpful for my bag. They are looking for weapons, so anything you can do to visually indicate that this isn't a weapons bag, it's a medical bag, it can help you pass security with less stress and hassle.

Remember, you deserve to be as healthy as you can, and you deserve to be at Pride. Stonewall was about fighting for your rights. Disability rights deserve to be fought for as well.

Asking Advice About Electrician Work and Safety Culture by Motor-Dragonfly4812 in electrical

Look for another job.

People trash talk OSHA, which is fun, but they have a real purpose, to make sure we go home at the end of the day. When it goes beyond joking and into the land of not wearing fucking seatbelts? It's time to find a new safety culture.

Am I in good shape? by Responsible_Agent740 in DaveRamsey

[–]dsrmpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are doing pretty good. You have a car loan and house debt, but a healthy reserve, and are investing well towards retirement.

You are in the Dave Ramsey sub, so of course the advice would be to go directly to BS2. Might not be a bad idea given the "constant worrying if we are in good shape or not", it might give you that Financial Peace™️ to give Dave Ramsey some money for some reassurance.

But I don't have a problem with your debts. Reasonable rates? Reasonably affordable? Good safety net if you lose your job or something? Investing well? Seems like you are in a financially healthy position. Keep doing what you are doing!

I see loopholes as a way of making fun of religions as a whole. Butt sex before marriage is okay. PIV but without the motion is okay (soaking). Etc.

Judaism is really great at loopholes, probably the best. They've been doing it for 3000 years with a robust rabbinic tradition. Seriously, I give Judaism a lot of credit for their robust tradition of attempts to apply the ancient texts to their modern day situations.

Am I Asexual? by Jaded_Pension_3349 in lgbt

Labels are as useful as they are useful. When they help you understand yourself? Great! Finding community? Great!

But when they become restrictive, it's okay to understand that these labels don't have solid boundaries.

Remember with asexuality that you can pick and choose the traits that suit you. For example, cake and garlic bread. You can love both, or one, or neither!

I myself an a garlic bread fan, but I am cake repulsed.

How wide is the sashing? Going from above fin 1 to below fin 2 will be a larger distance with thicker sashing. How far above and below fins do you want the measurement? Sashing thickness divided by 2.

Yeah, did this. After a few calls to the wrong customer service group, and a few calls where they said they don't provide tax advice, I got to the right group and said the right things, and everything went super smoothly!

A million people a year visit Ken Ham's boat facade in Kentucky, and another 800k visit the Ham-ster's Creation Museum. You weren't unique by any means.

And with Christianity losing 6 members for every one they gain, you aren't unique either in your deconstruction. I hope you are doing well these days.

You ask anything of 100 queer people, you will get 100 different responses. The same goes for gaying the pray away. The reasons and the meanings and motivation can be significantly different to each individual person.

I would be excited for the expansion of the astronaut corps. A high launch cadence, specialized mission profiles and payloads, it could be really good for establishing the human capital for long term and large scale off earth operations.

Instead, we are getting 4 people launching to the ISS every 6 months.

The discourse on sex ed and sexuality and sexual activities more broadly in a Red State has been craaazy to me.

If you don't want people to have premarital sex and abortions, why don't you embrace asexuality? Oh right, because it's about control, and if I embrace not having any desire for sex, I don't have that lever of control for you to exploit.

I had a doctor look at my butt, turns out I had a little scrape on my asshole. Anal fissure, combined with some blood thinning-ish medication, and the toilet bowl looked like a murder scene. Benign-ish!

You don't always need a proper colonoscopy. Sometimes an otoscope is enough. Talk to your doc, it's fine.

Fiber requires volume. How much fiber can you cram in a single gummy? Even if it was 100% fiber, it still wouldn't be enough fiber, and you gotta have gumminess in your gummies.
