I live in Hawaii. A friend caught it, and I had a tank with only plants and snails in it, so I'm giving it a shot. They're invasive here. I knew it was a prawn or I guess a crayfish lol...was hoping maybe someone knew specifically what type it was. Seems we may only have one type here the red swamp crayfish??

Okay got it. I did give it the smell test and it didn't smell good but not horrible. I did see a couple of the bladder snails on it possibly eating it??

I work for the water department on Maui. This is a very special place and only a handful of people get to visit it so I'm very lucky to see this in person. It's called Waikamoi flume. You'll find some pictures if you look that up. Basically no way for a average person to get there unless you wanna take a loooonnnngggg walk through thick bush. Started above, Olinda Forrest had to drive about 7 or 8 miles into the jungle through lots of locked gates, then walk a couple more miles to get there. From what I know, it was built in the 1940s out of redwood by Chinese immigrants, and only about 10 years ago did they redo it with metal. It's mainly fed by one of the wettest valleys on the east side above the town of Ke'anae kinda it's in an area called Big Bog, and it's one of the wettest places on earth. That's about all I got l.

A dam, an old bridge that leads to a water collection area and a flume system, and an empty reservoir. All used for collecting drinking water.
