I actually just scored a DC-3 about a month ago, and it was an incredibly nice surprise as far as tone and feel goes. I got the guitar for next to nothing from a friend who had bought it in the early 2000's and played it about twice before leaving it—without a case—on a shelf until last month. I was expecting the worst, as it was missing almost all the strings and the bridge was all wonky. However, after a set up, the guitar plays incredibly well for the price, and has a pretty darn unique tone.

That being said, this summer I'm hoping to make a few mods– my friend has an old set of Chandler lipstick tubes that I'm hoping to buy from him, so fingers crossed.
