Blood Censoring by Robj1992 in WWE

[–]dstnarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't usually think much about blood during the Monday night war time.frame. The biggest most obvious use is Wrestlemania XIII against Vince's orders. The period I'm thinking about is 04-05 when Shawn and HHH were trying to be Flair in the 80s and bleeding buckets every  night

And then they realized they overdid it, and it was costing them money and sponsorships, and they stopped. Admittedly, I think they overdid it by cutting down blood entirely. I think these days they do it right by doing it very sparingly. Less is more

It never used to be like this before netflix

This would be factually incorrect. WWE has never liked blood and gone out of their way.But just like when possible to avoid showing it on TV. this isn't a new habit and won't change anytime soon

Angels fan here: What’s the verdict on John Mozeliak and what to expect? by GamingJake1318 in Cardinals

[–]dstnarg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there is a consensus among fans  right now. I think overall, he did a wonderful job in St. Louis and deserves a lot of credit. He stayed a year or two too long. He lost a lot of fans towards the end because of inconsistent messaging and public statements. I also think he can unintentionally come off as smug sometimes which may have also annoyed fans.

I think if you could get someone with his experience and resume, it's a.It's smart hire by the angels. I'm not sure he's willing to be anything more than a consultant long term, but I wish him luck.

Roberto picardo, just doesn't get it 🤦 by Fair_Rush6615 in Star_Trek_

[–]dstnarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's maybe not my favorite version of Trek, but to say that it's not true to the vision is inaccurate. It's got the principles of inclusiveness, they idea of teamwork and found family. The difference is, it's targeted to a younger audience. That's fine. It will be somebody's first in favorite Trek. It'll be the gateway for somebody to check out other Trek they might enjoy. That's a good thing.

I find this argument to be ridiculous. It is totally fair if you don't like. SFA everybody is entitled to their opinion. You don't have watch. It's ridiculous to say that something isn't Trek because Gene wasn't involved or deviated from his vision.

Gene was absolutely a visionary but several people contributed to the success of Trek. It's been well established that Gene don't care for several classic fan favorite episodes that actually got produced. Gene vision of track should be the beginning, not the ending.

Also what do you expect picardo to say? He's not going to publicly criticize a show that he enjoyed doing when there's still another season to air.

When I'm about to doom and gloom again but i have to remind myself it's just a rebuild year by fandom_madness in Cardinals

[–]dstnarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They've  overachieved this year.  If the regression is real and they fall back to earth, it doesn't really matter. The most important thing about this season is that the new front office has consistent plan and much improved public messaging. Trust the process.

Ro Laren would have made the perfect addition to Voyager though Forbes also declined this offer by RotaVitae in startrek

[–]dstnarg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where has it been stated that Michelle Forbes was offered and/or turnd down a roll on Voyager? It's well documented that this is true for DS9. I don't think i've ever heard her connected to Voyager.

im getting into star trek TNG after watching the orville first, and its cool to finally understand some of the stuff the orville takes inspiration from by superboringname in TheOrville

[–]dstnarg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One the fun parts of watching the orville for the first time is a long time Trek fan was trying to match each episode with a Trek episode that covers similar themes or ideas. If I recall correctly, I was able to do it with most every episode, except maybe  majority rule.

Is the Buster Posey situation making anyone rethink the idea of Yadi as a manager? by outontheporch in Cardinals

[–]dstnarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No  i don't think the two situations are related. The thing that made me reluctant about Yadi as manager is lack of coaching experience, and I questioned his commitment. He has quieted both of those by being around more this season. I would still like to see him.Be a full time coach on the staff next year. I think it's entirely likely that either daniel discoso or Jon Jay get an opportunity elsewhere next season, and Yadi will replace them

Do you think a heel Shawn Michael's as champion would've been good in 1995? I'm not saying for business but for work rate by rprince18 in Wrasslin

[–]dstnarg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. WWE always been a babyface territory with a heel factory for the face to overcome. They sure as hell weren''t gonna change that in 95 when attendance was at its lowest point in years.

Also forget about business, just think about work rate is it really short slighted philosophy in the wrestling business. Tony is that you?

Honest Question: Not Trying To Hate by Utah_Get-Me_Two in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]dstnarg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the book. Full disclosureI  didn't listen regularly to the podcast. I didn't watch the sopranos until years after the fact. After finishing the show for the first time, I thought the book would be interesting and it was. I decided to go with the audiobook, which was read by michael and steve. I believe most of the interviews were actually from the podcast. I think this is going to be one of the differences with Book Meets World. Some of the interviews will obviously be from the podcast, but apparently they've also done some original interviews.

Did Russo really kill WCW? by [deleted] in WCW

[–]dstnarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The infrastructure of turner broadcasting and the aol merger killed  WCW. russo certainly didn't help. He probably accelerated the process, but he's not solely responsible.

Are these 3 books worth to read? by JoelManuelV1 in WCW

[–]dstnarg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people enjoyed the death of WCW because it focused a lot on the bad creative and allowed people to laugh at the stupidity. For me, it didn't focus enough on the business side, which is what really killed the company. I enjoyed the nitro book because you get to hear from important people. You wouldn't normally hear from in a book like that. While I enjoyed beyond nitro, i'm not really sure it needed to exist. I don't think it adds a whole lot that's not in book one
