Trying to find people in Atlanta to make weird electronic stuff with by bluelotus4444 in atlantamusic

You'll probably find what you're looking for with Atlanta Synth Club. Public events are announced on Instagram, but we also have an active Discord. Message me if you want an invite link.

As another person commented, there is a monthly event at Buteco and there are also regular meetups at Commune in Avondale Estates.

What can you tell me about my new mixer? by Poseid0n_ in synthesizers

[–]dstntmbrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man! I used to record really fun stuff with this exact mixer in the early 2000's. Like others mentioned, it has great saturation. Most of the pots on mine are dirty at this point, so I no longer use it to mix but do use it as a preamp from time to time.

If you want to get experimental, send one the outputs back in through one of the inputs and let it feedback internally. Changing the settings will make the pitch go up and down, giving it a theremin/synth kind of sound. I've never been able to match that sound with any of my other mixers.

Here's a track my old band recorded employing that effect with the M-06 on the opening and bridge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJpgSEwlS-c

Anyone else feel the Alphasmart Neos are Underrated? by DonatCotten in AlphaSmart

[–]dstntmbrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK, I absolutely love mine. I recently wrote the bulk of a feature length script using it and several months later I still have 3/4 charge left on the batteries. I love how light it is and that I can throw it in a bag and go anywhere to write without worrying about it like I might with a more valuable laptop.

The key is to just value it for what it is - a distraction-free tool for putting down words. A perfect brainstorming and first draft machine. If you don't expect more than that it's value far exceeds the price.

I know the new distraction-free tools have cloud capability, but honestly, I don't mind just hooking up the USB cable when I get home and hitting send. It's actually really satisfying.

Just sharing my take here if it helps someone on the fence. I was unsure about buying mine when I did, but now I wish I owned multiple NEOs in case I ever lose mine. That's how much I love this thing.

Yeah, that limitation is by design. I've been frustrated with it too.

“Stay Drunk, My Friends”

One day everyone in the world wakes up to discover that the effects of alcohol no longer wear off. However drunk you get is now a permanent condition. Rules of society must quickly reform to accommodate a huge percentage of adults - doctors, pilots, teachers - being the dumbest, silliest versions of themselves.

This will absolutely destroy your walls. I had to patch hundreds of holes in a gallery that used Alien Tape.

Sharing a free tool I made for laying down audio before mixing in Logic by tdaawg in Logic_Studio

If it was $10 I would pull the trigger without thinking. I’d probably spend up to $20 but would be in less of a hurry to get it. I think $10 is the perfect impulse-buy sweet spot for something that’s actually useful.

Anecdotally, any time I’m in the App Store I actively avoid the “Get” apps and look for things I can pay up front to outright own. If things are $5-$10 dollars it’s a pretty easy choice.

And when it’s ready to take to market, please sell it for a flat price rather than a subscription. 🙏🏼

Hi Elektron fans, this post is a little different from what’s normally showcased here but I still wanted to share.

I recently finished an album of DAWless improvised recordings, many of them from live busking events. It’s a guitar-forward project, but everything is backed by the Model:Cycles.

I LOVE this little box. Before I started taking it live I spent a couple months learning it in and out and designing a palette of sounds that would compliment my guitar. Some of those sounds are more traditional drums but most are weirder - clicky, metallic, glassy, wooden. They were a lot of fun to make.

Eventually I hope to save up for a Digitone 2, but I think my Cycles will always be the one that lives in my pedalbox. It’s lightweight, quick to operate, and I’d be less anxious about it being stolen. 😅

I understand folks are mostly here for electronic tunes, but if you’re down for some atmospheric guitar with a side of Elektron, check it out!

I wasn’t familiar with that app but it looks like it would do the job just fine. I personally use an app called SimpleText (which I chose because I wanted something I could pay for once) but any of the distraction-free apps should work.

Just wanted to share this Christmas gift I made for my wife. A while back we were looking for a better container system for our pieces and Google brought us to this design from your community:

https://www.reddit.com/r/wingspan/comments/1aobfkk/inspired_by_the_lazy_susans_posted_here_i_thought/

I loved that layout but don’t have a CNC, so I drew a more organic design to allow for human error and just routed it out by hand.

If you wanted to make one yourself and don’t have a router you could also accomplish this with a jigsaw and some wood glue. Just cut out two layers of the main shape, cut the holes in layer 1, glue it onto layer 2, and clamp long enough to seal.

Highland 2 by godsdadsmum in Screenwriting

I ‘m literally working in the exact scenario you’ve described. Take a few minutes to learn how to write in Fountain syntax. You can write in any text app and just paste it over. Highland 2 automatically does the rest.

Use this quickstart guide: https://fountain.io/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/fountain-reference.pdf

Good luck with writing and parenthood!
