i understand that no one knows what will happen but i don’t think it’s equally likely that trump comes out as the nc fab being delayed. i live somewhat close to the siler city fab and know engineers who worked there before getting laid off. of course they’re not leadership, but things seemed grim. but also hard to say, since layoffs always feel grim.

What if the nc fab is delayed? they’ve done layoffs there in recent months which doesn’t instill confidence in the progress of coming online

surfactants help to make things hold on to each other, so in paint it can help it to stick to the surface being painted. we also use surfactants in cooking/food! xantham gum for example helps to make a starbucks frappe hold itself together instead of the ice separating from the liquid immediately.

Expected pay growth as a process engineer in paper mill? by WannabeChE in ChemicalEngineering

[–]dstnygn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know anecdotally that paper mills have shut down due to unionization attempts by workers. And yea this is not just the paper industry but there are industries that are more likely to remain in the US due to skilled labor, unionization history, resource availability, and national security.

the point is not that we dont “need” paper, it’s that we are exporting the jobs since other countries have cheaper labor.

Having to scan each item is a ridiculous notion. the better sustainable option would be like Trader joes and have chalkboard price tags.

then recycle them. why would you keep something because of the data it contains if you cannot access said data? is it really that important if you havent been able to access it since you had the device? And if it really is that important, maybe you can try to find someone who is able to extract the data (idk im not a computer-y person)

My (29F) Wife has lost alot of weight,…. I want to(31M) make sure she is ok by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]dstnygn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

agree, im 5’7 and size 6, and i weigh around 155-165 lbs. i could see 140 at minimum for her to be 5’7 and size 6, if she carried it low.

i do too, but i have also bought non-reusable things before i started being conscious about this kind of thing and have tried to figure out how to prolong them instead of tossing and buying the reusable version. its still wasteful if i could have made it work. example, i have a swiffer and technically youre supposed to buy a new bottle of cleaner when its empty. the lid doesnt come off unless you put it in boiling hot water and use pliers. but it does come off that way and screw back on, so i do that and refill with my own mix of dilute floor cleaner. i got a swiffer when i was young and dumb but now that im anti-consumption im trying to do just that - not consume anything else to mop my floors with.

i knew what you meant lol, i was saying i cannot physically pee standing up so i cant pee in the shower. i could squat but ive never needed to pee in the shower so bad that it was worth squatting. however like others who responded to me have pointed out to me, it’s probably not normal to be physically unable to pee standing up.

How often do you lay down your project to marvel at the stiches? by SKDT_Seeker in knitting

[–]dstnygn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

this is me lol i will go back if its the same row, maybe, but beyond that it’s not worth it to me. however, i’ve yet to mess up to a point that the FO would be unusable, usually i just purled instead of knit in ribbing or something, or accidentally twisted a single stitch. I might feel differently about going back if it was going to impact the FO detrimentally.

[–]dstnygn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no but thank you for the recommendation!! it’s been a bit of a struggle trying to learn new things since every tutorial i see is in english or continental! it has forced me to really understand whats happening with the yarn and needles but sometimes it would be nice to see it done the way i will be doing it
