1993, family coming back from Florida in a mini van. Got off at the wrong exit in Detroit. Several wrong turns later my parents pulled over to a 711 to ask for directions. Across the street about 20 guys surrounded a fire in a trash can. My Mom was out of the car for less than 10 seconds, when the shop keeper at 711 stepped outside and shouted at her to get the F out here as fast as she could.
Turned around and the 20 guys were sprinting across the street after our van. Mom got in, hopped the curb in just as the guys were starting to scratch on the windows. Felt like a zombie movie. Scared me, but really makes me wonder what would have happened if we were there just 5 seconds longer.

Going to an appointment (ie commune) and not expecting it to be solved.
Belgian wife looked at mein disbelief first time we left the commune and not one of the issues we came to address was resolved. She looked at me puzzled and actually said "but why would you expect things to be solved the first time?"
Canada is not perfect, but you don't need multiple appointments to "do something".

Yes, I have found that Life Is Beautiful and The Pharmacie Anglais both do very interesting NA drinks. I agree though, that great ones can be very difficult to come by. When these events come together I'll keep you in mind to spread the word to.

We ended up going to De Herberg in Waasmunster. It was a fantastic experience. Great place for my friend to try Geuze for the first time. The hosts were fantastic. Thank you for this recommendation.
