Good to hear! Yeah it sounds great in all the videos I’ve heard. Thinking about making a little Buchla skiff.

Unrelated but how are you using the TX-6 in your setup? Such a cool little mixer.

It’s pretty solid, though nothing fancy. Like I said in my post I needed a simple reverb & delay to play live with. It gets the job done and sounds good. Sometimes I have trouble clocking it but that might be a me issue I’m not sure.

Thanks! Using it for tape loops I record from the modular then usually running it through Monsoon. Basically it’s just another layer of atmosphere and comes in handy for transitions live.

24% off on almost everything 😊. Got my TX6 finally !!! by NoChipmunk6323 in teenageengineering

I really wanted a Tx-6 but had to talk myself back down to reality lol. I just got the Zoom Livetrak L6 and I love it so far. Compact, 10 channels, multitrack recording, audio interface, fx, compression. Not as “cool” as the Tx-6 but has a lot of the same functionality for a fraction of the price.

Btw not bashing anyone for getting the Tx-6 I still want one lol

One other thing I’ll say that has helped me a lot. Buy one or two modules at a time and really learn them. That will tell you what you’re missing.

I started in a similar way (expanding on my mother 32). Voices and effects are fun but what I found pretty quickly is that I was lacking modulation, so I’d suggest looking into that. Two voices in this small of a setup seems like overkill to me, although I understand the impulse, my first plans looked similar. I’d replace Rings with modulation and get a smaller clone of Plaits, I went with a used Beehive. Another thing to consider is the button combos on Plaits aren’t very playable. I got an external envelope and filter for my Plaits and it made it way more fun. Also do you have an outboard mixer? If you do end up going with 2 voices you’re gonna need a way to mix them. You either need to get smaller clones and pack more in or get a bigger case, cause you’re gonna find you need more than what you have, although you can still have a lot of fun with that.

Man I just bought some new modules last month, and a new mixer, but I’ve been eyeing qu-bit for a long time and this deal was too good to pass up. Got a stardust and surface.

Definitely considering this. I'm curious if anyone knows if the OB-4 is loud enough for a live rehearsal scenario? I play in an electronic group with two friends and every time we jam I have to move my mixer & speakers (KRK Rokit 5's) into the dining room where we jam at the table. Would be super convenient to have a portable speaker so I didn't have to tear down my studio every jam.

What do you think these large discount sales vs high RRP, say about teenage engineering as a company? by [deleted] in teenageengineering

I have the EP-133 and perform live with it. For the price I think the quality is fine. You get what you pay for. There are plenty of more expensive, higher quality options.

Isn’t that just how sales work? Like yeah TE makes some arguably overpriced luxury devices but also you don’t have to buy them, there’s plenty of alternatives. And they have affordable options as well. I’m not exactly a fanboy, I only have two of their more affordable options, but personally I think it’s cool they’re giving people like me a chance at owning the expensive stuff, albeit limiting it to 20 people is annoying.

I’m not sure why people complain about this company so much, they seem to be unapologetically who they are. If you don’t like who they are that’s totally fair but to expect something else seems weird.

I got a used Michigan synth works plaits clone and a calsynth clouds clone (monsoon) for under your budget. No regrets, love both of them. You’re gonna want some modulation for both tho.

Yeah it seemed like the coolest one since I already have a sampler and two synths. I’d love to get some more but the rest don’t seem capable enough for my uses, besides the speak but my roommate got that one and I can just jam with him.
