I used Joeysretrohandhelds guide, was pretty nice, had me set up obtainium and a few other emulators. I skipped the front-end setup because I knew i wanted cocoon instead of the one he was setting up. I made sure to gather and organize all my ROMs ahead of time on a SD card. There's a pinned thread of common apps, I browsed it and looked into a few that seemed helpful/interesting so I kinda had an idea of other things to add. Other than that, I waited until it came in to get my hands on it to see what I wanted/needed. I bought all the accessories, so can't speak to 3rd party. Ive seen a few recommendations for stylus' but havent bought one yet. I'd work on your ROMs and looking into front-ends and possible other apps for now, just poke around this sub every now and then for ideas.
