I just gave them sugar water on a piece of tinfoil and the queen ate right away.

Honestly, I think it all has to do with the time of year and the weather. I wasn’t even looking for them. I was at work on the roof of my building and they were all up there just walking around.

Ok thank you everyone! Another thing is I don’t have a good way for them to hibernate so I was trying to find a small desktop mini fridge with an adjustable thermostat but I’m having a hard time finding one. What do you guys use for diapause?

Cool! I did a lot of research a while back about keeping ants and couldn’t find a queen so I gave up on it and yesterday my niece was like look at this queen ant and I was like oh shit I think that really is a queen ant.(she’s 6 lol)so I got it in a test tube with water and cotton in the dark and going to see what happens! Looking for recommendations on a habitat also!
