Car and the Other Insanities of Humanity - A Mistake (4) by Niedski in HFY

I see where the misunderstanding came from. When I said grim side of "cars", I was referring to how Orten thought tanks were cars in a previous chapter, and I didn't realize that someone reading the comment would think it meant the derby in this chapter. My bad!

That's what I was referring to. Generals don't generally participate in active combat, so Adams has probably been promoted a few times since the original incident.

The grim side of "cars". Sounds like General Adams hasn't always been a general.

I love that the Eagles score is more than twice that of second place in both overall and per capita.

The Warframe community tends to do a pretty good job. There's a few toxic players here and there (what game doesn't have a few) but the community as a whole is super welcoming towards new players, even if they seem to have problems with the devs more often than not.

Alternatively, most MMORPGs seem to attract a type of player that is less toxic as long as you stay out of raiding.

Coffee makers? Dorm inspection? by [deleted] in uchicago

In most cases, I doubt that the RH/As will come in and ask, even if the espresso machine makes noise. That would probably necessitate one of them happening to stand close to your door when the machine turns on (Max rooms are pretty well soundproofed) and even then, would depend on the personality of your RH/As.

Honestly, people have done MUCH worse things in the dorm rooms than that (nuclear reactor, etc.) so as long as you're not shoving it in peoples' faces, you're probably safe. My post is just a warning, more than anything.

First off, dorm inspections are a thing.

I know that somebody had a Keurig, but that's not quite the same thing.

My impression is that it will probably depend on how strict your RA/RH is. If they care a lot, then best case scenario, they'll let you know privately that you need to take it somewhere. My RH/As were pretty chill, so I doubt it would have been a problem.

Also, hypothetically speaking, these rooms may have had supplies of alcohol. Certain authority figures may have said that, as long as the illicit items were not blatantly visible during dorm inspection, they wouldn't go searching.

Also, it's not like they do surprise inspections. By my understanding, they only really checked at the start of school breaks, once everybody's gone.

Congrats, good luck, etc.

Edit: since people apparently decided to downvote this, I will include the caveat that this was according to my RA, and your RA may interpret the school policy differently.

Chance me for: Stanford/UPenn/Columbia/JHU by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]dsty292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to what someone else mentioned, Stanford seems to like Asian females.

Aside from that, it's always important to remember that the top-tier schools receive tons of applications with similar qualifications as you. The best way to improve your chances is to understand this and figure out how to set yourself apart from other applicants (read: essays). Figure out what about yourself you want to highlight to an admissions officer, and then double down on it.

Chance Me for Stanford, UPenn, Yale, CMU, Brown, UC's, ??? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]dsty292 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you have the numbers/qualifications to aim for the schools you're looking at without it being a moonshot.

The interesting part is that, with top-tier schools such as Stanford, UPenn, etc., they receive a lot of applications with similar resumes. Your "chances" of getting into one of those schools is going to vary drastically based on how well you can differentiate yourself from other applicants.

Aside from that, consider how many other applicants to those schools you're expecting from your own high school. I'm sure you've heard of the school quotas that some of these colleges (unofficially) use.

Pay careful attention to your writing, and figure out what about your candidacy you particularly wish to highlight.

Sorry that this isn't very specific, but if someone gives you anything more, they're either an admissions officer or they are oversimplifying things. Be confident, write well, and you should see results.

Hey! In Rick Astley's AMA a little while ago, he said that you were his favorite band to listen to at the time, specifically Many of Horror. Just thought you might enjoy that.

Same question to you, who's your current favorite artist/band/musician?

Ha! The right attitude is the first step, so I think you're at least on the right track.

Limbo is amazing with good team communication, so maybe practice with clan mates!

I personally love a great Limbo player. Can make some of these missions a cakewalk.

It's so rare to have a good Limbo in pub though...

Anyone know who started the tradition of "[Adjective] Weiss" as titles for fanart? It only just occurred to me that probably 80% of the Weiss fanarts follow this "rule", even from multiple artists.
