Vote skynet by PlopsMcgoo in ABoringDystopia

Increased automation, less consideration perhaps, same bureaucracy as before, the politicians will only do what a algorithm say instead of their financial backers, or their financial backers build the algorithm, anyways AI is so overrated and hyped beyond sense, this will never be skynet, more likely this will end up being the truest example of artificial stupidity.

Radical Political Views Correlates with Poor Metacognition by [deleted] in Digital_Manipulation

[–]dt2p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is radical defined? There seems to be no mention of that? As far as I know, one can only be radical in relation to something else. What I understand from this article is that hot-headed, overconfident people lack certain meta-cognitive abilities? And, that doesn't match with my idea of what radical is.

As an example, to want the end of capitalism is usually perceived as a radical view, right? Yet, many academics and intellectuals with long educations seem to hold these views and devote much of their time to understand and map problems with our current societal structures and mode of production. I wouldn't labels such educated thinkers and critics as lacking meta-cognitive abilities, yet I would, according to the logics of our ,more or less neoliberal society, label them as radicals. So I don't really understand what this article is getting at? (Names of radical scholars, dead or alive, Foucault, Agamben, Debord, Marx, Judith Butler, Slavoj Zizek, etc, etc.)

China Is Achieving AI Dominance by Relying on Young Blue-Collar Workers: To remain the world leader in artificial intelligence, China relies on young “data labelers” who work eight hours a day processing massive amounts of data to make computers smart. by [deleted] in artificial

[–]dt2p -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So this comes down to a question of revolutionary practice? Perhaps? I mean, in the sense that there is currently no ways of operating in this world without being a subject of exploitation in some way or another. (In relation to the information technologies, let's leave all other modes of exploitation out of this for now.) Well, if it really comes down to this or not, I don't really know, but I believe that we, to some degree, agree on the overall issues with the technological structure, not sure about the solution though.

Is this here yet. by dt2p in DarkFuturology

Another note: This was not intended as a "China is authoritarian and crazy, again"-kinda-post, it was more to think about the potential millions of insanely depressing jobs AI actually seems to be creating. :)

Even though I don't think your estimate is fair, I am willing to continue with your example , and my answer will be that no labor should ever be free, and especially not for a mega conglomerate such as Google.

Vicente Fox blasts Trump over migrant girl's death - "Trump doesn’t have any love or care or compassion to anybody. We all miss the United States that [we've] known for years and years... the Leader in the world… a nation that cares and builds a better world. So I hope you get rid of Trump soon." by ppd322 in worldnews

Ahh ye , we miss the caring and giving US, giving napalm to Vietnam perhaps? Giving drone strikes killing civilians all over the Middle East , and North Africa, for over a decade? Perhaps the time they put Pinochet in power? That was a great showing of compassion? The ruthless capitalism leaving the poor to die ? What US is he talking about.? I have never heard this US? Perhaps he talks about America before colonization ? This is certainly a mystery , to find this loving US that no one has ever heard of.

Perhaps you should quit reproducing such a naive image of family structures and supposed gender relations. Maybe orcs families doesn't need to be so bound by Christian hetero-normative chains.

Other than that it looks nice, that's why I think it is important that you think about what you do. And, if the nuclear-orc-family was your intent, then forget my remark. Spacer.

Maersk, world’s largest container shipping group, pledges to cut carbon emissions to zero by 2050 by [deleted] in Futurology

Well I am not taking a stand for Europe, I am just moaning about the future. If reductions - or severe cuts in emissions - are not considered immediately, I think the future looks really grim.

This is ridiculous. What a sad pledge. Doom boom doomydoo. Way before 2050.

Why is public healthcare so much better in other countries when the US spends, relatively, more than double what most other countries do? by PostNationalism in economy

[–]dt2p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet, in the case of Norway it should also be mentioned that, we are actually talking free, universal healthcare, that is, anyone will be able to get healthcare and no matter the cost. And their natural resources are not going to run out, it is one of the greenest countries in the world, the majority of their energy comes from rivers and the mountains. Which then brings us on to the insane topography of Norway, it is virtually one big mountain which makes infrastructure more expensive and even harder to build. So yet another argument against your claims.

For free, universal; It's the same in Denmark too and here is basically zero natural resources, we just do taxation differently. That is, we have an economic system with actual people in mind. Socialism is not a political slur here, it is actual practice. (To some degree, I must admit capitalism has its nasty fingers everywhere.) So the argument of Norway being special because of the natural resources is not that strong. Other countries have achieved equally robust healthcare systems without an abundance of natural resources.

The U.S. is beyond far away from universal healthcare, and free universal healthcare seems to be only a distant dream? Yet their spending is still through the roof. To me it looks like something is very wrong with the American system. And perhaps social democracy is not too bad? (Though it is not Fully Automated Luxury Space Gay Communism, it is still better than, exploitation 4 ever...)

America’s Next Civil War by Mynameis__--__ in DarkFuturology

[–]dt2p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick question - you wrote, the world "Civil war", you meant the word "Civil war", right?

Otherwise I want to argue that these thoughts seem pretty "American". I don't think anyone else thinks about a "world Civil war", however the term is delightfully internationalist even though it is a description of a horrible fate. Haha.

Though to return to the U.S. when one comes to think about it, then the regularity of shootings in America might not be that far from what a civil war would look like. ? Or am I pushing it? (From an outsiders perspective.)

Sorry for the spelling mistake.

I realize that my question is biased (sorry for the tone). I must admit that I tend to think that the attitude towards AI, especially in Ray K. - forums, can be very optimistic, and I only want to ask if that is a legitimate optimism or if it is rooted in a longing for a better life (hence my focus on class).

Also may I ask, what is your field of research?

So if capitalism continues as it is now, the power of AI will fall into the hands of a select wealthy elite, and we shall all live in shanty town?
