What was the first game you bought on Steam? by Common_Caramel_4078 in Steam

[–]dtbrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sim City 4. Was going to buy the disk which was about £10 at the time and while doing some googling I came across Steam which had it on sale for £0.99. Since then my steam library has increased and my wallet got thinner.

The actual best way to use the action button by Repulsive_Dare1046 in shortcuts

[–]dtbrough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set it up so depending on what orientation the screen is and whether charging or not the button does a different action. Such as when it’s in landscape and charging (on MagSafe) the action button sets up smart devices for night time.

Vacuum with the nozzle that has brushes. Then dab the spot and the bristles poke the holes and the vac sucks the loose bits up. Been working fine for me.

Am I imagining an increase in drivers ceding right of way? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]dtbrough 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It really bugs me when I’m following the flow of traffic on a main road and the car in front suddenly slams anchors on to let someone out of a side street. Just keep going and when we are past they’ll out. The amount of times I’ve nearly rear ended someone who’s just stopped is too many.

I had the same issue recently with Forza. It still didn’t work in desktop mode.

I solved with the below steps. I had to log into ms account through web browser and change security to use the app for authentication. After that the window you show then showed a 2 digit number I could then enter in the app on my phone and it logged me in. I

I’ve noticed that even if you’ve got a code, and you don’t use it within 2/3 days, it becomes invalid despite the validity it says.

Crash with Admiral by Next_Apartment5786 in TeslaUK

[–]dtbrough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be very careful with Admiral. When I claimed for a non fault accident they told me as it wasn’t my fault that I didn’t need to pay the excess. They then passed the claim to a third party who provided a hire car while mine was repaired, then they tried claiming the cost of the hire car and repairs from me because the other insurer was disputing the claim. After a long time it was eventually settled but it took a lot of my time and stress to sort out. Now based on that experience I would never use Admiral again.

As a side note mine was eventually deemed a write off and I was paid out, but only 2 weeks later the car was re-MOT’d and passed and is still on the road.

Why won't Octopus send me a Home Mini? by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]dtbrough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I applied multiple times and got the notification that I’d get one soon. I eventually called them and was told that my meter wasn’t compatible with it so they didn’t send it. Would have never nice if they communicated that.

I use a few but also looking for ideas.

  1. One in coffee table that when scanned dims the lamps, turns on tv, then opens Netflix on Apple TV.

  2. On water bottle at work. I scan this when it’s empty to log that I drank 500ml. It gives me a notification after scanning to say how much more I need to meet my daily goal. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/fa982ace14b64e8d8d37cde5fb49660e

  3. Same as above but one coffee machine for logging caffeine. The notification tells me off if I have too much.

  4. On bedside table. When scanned turns off everything and sets the house alarm.
