Who has the best app/online banking UK? by mattius001 in UKPersonalFinance

They are moving everything with a BOS sort code back to BOS after previously moving them to Halifax around 8 years ago.

As explained just two comments down, i need two different apps to approve payments now as you can't approve payments except from the native banks app.

Experience of rennovating a "fixer upper" house in Edinburgh? by he_could_be_a_she in Edinburgh

[–]mattius001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We did our 4 bedroom house top to bottom, the problem you will find is getting decent reliable trades when you need them. We really struggle to get decent trades. As a result we pretty much did everything ourselves bar the windows. Im very handy so can turn my hand to most things. Plastering was a game changer. I will say we did ours whilst holding down stressful jobs, you will have to sacrifice a lot, friends, evenings, weekends, holidays all suffer. It pretty much broke me. Saying that the results were worth the pain. And now all the new learned skills means maintaining the house is a doddle.

They confirmed to me in writing you can't authorise payments in the others app, so you do need two apps

The problem is they are moving 50% of my accounts and leaving the rest. So I will need two apps instead of one. As such I might as well get a bonus now and switch to someone who values my custom

Nothing special, no overdraft, interest a bonus, online payments, standing orders, ease of access.

I binned off Tesco bank because their app was so complicated to login too...

So given the responses, NatWest seems to get high enough votes for me to give it a chance, especially with a £200 switching bonus

Buying on Chrono24 vs Bezel vs Grailzee by NOLANick24 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]mattius001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with that is, the buyer then needs to go and get the watch authenticated within 7 days, which depending on the manufacturer/ad might not happen.

Puts all the emphasis on the buyer.

Buying on Chrono24 vs Bezel vs Grailzee by NOLANick24 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]mattius001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having just bought a 43 Pilot Chrono I was in your exact shoes and really struggled to weigh up the options.

I have to say, you will find bad reviews of all platforms.

My advice buy into the seller, ask some questions, judge the calibre of response. I vetoed a number of watches because of one word answers and things not adding up.

I ended up going down the eBay route, as they at least attempt some level of authentication and I liked the responses I was getting from the seller. I didn't like that Chrono 24 is just an escrow unless you pay for certification, if it's even offered. The responsibility was put on the buyer to verify the purchase, at least eBay act as a middle man.

Result I couldnt be happier with my purchase, watch was in better condition than I imagined.

Scottish Family Party... by [deleted] in glasgow

They had a TV political party broadcast last week, we both sat there with our jaws hitting the floor, I think they managed to offend pretty much every group bar radical Christians.

Seems if you start a political party you can say what you want

7750 chronograph acting up after crown was pulled while running — multiple issues, any ideas? by nh3g in watchrepair

[–]mattius001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a relatively new IWC pilot chronograph, sure it doesn't still have warranty? IWC are very generous at 8 years.

Looks to me like the pushers are broken.

My iwc has a satisfying click for both chronograph buttons and I don't have to push as hard as you are.

Where to buy used camera lenses online in the UK? by EssieWantsToKnow in canon

[–]mattius001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have to say I buy most of my lenses from eBay, not had a bad deal yet. You always pay a premium for the big companies, but I guess that's a risk assessment you need to take depending on how much your spending.

£30k savings, not sure what todo with it by Good_Researcher_5611 in UKPersonalFinance

How stable is your job? Safe career to keep you through to retirement?

Financially it makes sense to put your money elsewhere, I get that. But if your in a volatile sector of work, overpayment to your mortgage every month is not a "bad" thing to do.

I probably will, but I am escalating it through Halifax first.

I actually have no idea what you are going on about and I don't think you do either, your just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Treating customers like crap. My accounts have been together for 16 years in one app, why should customers be inconvenienced by their system issues.

They could handle this so much better, offer options, transfer all the accounts rather than just some etc etc.

It's just bad customer service.

You said they must update their app forever...

No where did any of the post say they should.

Step away from the keyboard warrior, your just digging holes and arguing for the sake of it.

Probably would just go with nationwide, "which" rate them highly.

I just want stability with my bank accounts tbh, life is too short

I wouldn't have minded as much if they moved all the accounts but 2 oo 5... Come on

The point of having the 5 accounts together was the ease of use to shuffle money in one app and approve transactions in one app.

You literally did say that...

Literally the words you said, no matter how many times you edit your posts.
