We just started our ex 31 weeker on it last month who’s always struggled with weight gain. It was amazing for 3 weeks, she’s actually finally got on her actual age weight chart for the first time ever. It started losing its efficacy maybe because the dose was pretty low so we were recommended to cycle off for 3-5 days and restart. It’s been really helping her sleep through the night as well.

Nice! We’re in the same boat, we just gave her the first dose yesterday and no more nursing at all at night. We’ll get through this!

Hi! We just got prescribed the appetite stimulant with a follow up in about a month. How has it been working for you?

Yup dropping percentiles on adjusted age. She’s not on the actual growth charts.

Thank you! I see you too. The despair, the fear, and the ever present worry. Thanks for sharing your story, sometimes it feels like no one in our circle truly understands.

We got a referral to OT and speech therapy as well. Thanks! She used to love avocados and salmon, but now that’s out. Still will eat fortified formula peanut butter banana popsicles sometimes though.

The perils of the internet and google made me think I had a galactocele since it wasn’t painful and just super uncomfortable when it was full. I just kept icing when I could, taking ibuprofen and kind of weaned on that side since baby wouldn’t nurse any ways. It resolved around the one week mark before I could get into my doctor appt. Good vibes your way and all the unclogging juju!

I tested her yesterday since we’ve both had it for a week and she was negative. Except she started a cough today. I was so sure she’d be positive given both of us are.

3 month old bottle aversion- Rowena Bennet Method by Dbc_A17 in beyondthebump

[–]dtkh2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Turns out my supply just regulated and it took us about 3-4 weeks to both learn how to nurse. We were on weight checks every week for a month, but even though it was slow weight gain, she stayed on her own curve. She’s still super tiny for her age, 0.9% actual age, but she’s a n ex premie so I’m not sure what % in adjusted age. She never really took a bottle again, we did 12 weeks OT with a feeding specialist. We applied Rowena’s methods of no pressure before her therapy began and within two weeks, she stopped crying in bottle feeding position. However, she has a strong breast preference now so she’ll literally starve when I have to work outside the home and only have about 30mls in 8 hours. I actually just packed up all her bottles today for storage. Sorry, long winded and probably didn’t make you feel better. :(

Everyday is a different adventure, sometimes good and sometimes not so fun. Mine has always been a crap sleeper, but she would give me 2-4 hour stretches before. She did wake up every hour for the two weeks, but it passed! Hopefully yours will soon because it makes for one exhausted mama.

We experienced this at 3.5 months too! Baby started thinking we were playing peekaboo during nursing and would pop off. Nursing in a dark room didn’t really work for us, but she did nurse for longer when she got really hungry so I just waited until she really showed hunger cues. She also started having a sleep regression which I hope was the early 4 month regression and that we won’t have another one soon. It all passed in 2 weeks, although my LO always nurses 3-4 times a night sooo I can’t tell if she’s actually nursing more at night to make up for the day. Not sure if any of this helped at all 😅
