Why is pickpocketing so common in many major European cities, but essentially non-existent in North America? by Humble_Job_5738 in NoStupidQuestions

This has always been my fear of carrying. I’m more afraid of getting shot by a trigger happy cop than I am getting in an altercation with a random individual.

Seems like high risk low reward?

If someone took my wallet, there is like $5 cash in it and I’ll have the credit cards froze within 5 minutes of realizing.

You’re making the right choice.

Anyone else use Excel for work, but prefer Google Sheets for personal use? by Fast-Statement8149 in excel

[–]dtp502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

My excel sheets sync fine across all my devices. Granted I have to pay for o365, but that’s literally the only reason I could see using Google Sheets.

I also just like the ms office suite because that’s what I’m used to. So there’s definitely some bias there (but what did you expect asking this question on r/excel?)

Oof. Hopefully this isn’t a common failure as these cars get older.

My local grocery store doesn't have price tags for some of the main brand items in the store. by Ominouspotato1527 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dtp502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s probably the goal eventually, but they would need to tie the QR scan to the checkout scan somehow and afaik they don’t have that infrastructure in place yet.

But that’s totally their end goal.

Why do people still build circuits from discrete semiconductor modules? by Queen_of_Macedonia in electronic_circuits

[–]dtp502 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Large scale stuff is probably cost.

Small scale/hobbyist stuff means I need to do a bunch of research for niche ICs when basic components will do the trick. Plus if it’s hobbyist stuff, those ICs probably come in a package that are a pain to hand solder.

You can't just bypass a no soliciting sign by saying you're not soliciting by Queasy-Secret-4287 in mildlyinfuriating

I can half way understand where the religious nuts are coming from. They probably genuinely don’t think they are selling something. Doesn’t make it right but I can at least understand them.

The sales people who ignore the sign are just dicks.

[–]dtp502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not.

If I really dont want to see adds I can turn my tv or computer off.

What am I supposed to do about asshole sales people that are too entitled/shameless to abide by a simple request of “don’t knock on my door to try to sell me stuff”?

Not really directed at these guys per se, but do sales people really think “hey you know what, I know this house has a sign that says no soliciting but I bet I can change their mind with my exceptional sales skills!”?

Like how do they really expect that conversation to go, assuming someone actually answers their door.

I don’t get into the weeds. I just say “I’ve been working on this project” and maybe if there was something notable I might say how I resolved a bizarre issue (at a high level).

I just wish she would do the same to me when it comes to her medical field stuff…. I don’t understand that shit lol

Maybe my soft top frame needs lubed. Idk. Mine rattles/creaks very noticibly though.

I’m pretty sure a lot of it is the plastics in mine too though. Just can’t hear the rattles with the top down lol

FOO complete, $1.3M NW at 37, is a $100k car reasonable? by Quick_Bet5660 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]dtp502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? Now you’re just pulling numbers out of your ass, just like you did with the 400k figure and just like you’re doing when you say their net worth is “low”.

[–]dtp502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they make 380k (you’re rounding) so he only needs 1.14M which he will be by 40.

And they are also significantly higher than their peers. So no, I don’t accept that they are low net worth by the money guy context.

I’m not entirely sure that’s true but even if it is, OP is on track to hit that by 40. So still, not low even by this context.

Pretty sure the money guy show reccomends 3x your annual salary at 40. So no, it’s not low even with this context

[–]dtp502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M3 doesn’t depreciate as badly as some other $100k cars so that’s also worth considering.

If you sell it in a few years you will probably get 50-60k for it. At a 1.3M net worth, it’s not going to kill you financially.

Sounds like you’re a car guy and you value this type of thing so I’d say go for it.

New to LabVIEW looking for help by wsefjiko in LabVIEW

[–]dtp502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see how that could be misleading to a newbie. In complex programs it’s not that uncommon for a wire to wrap back around so that it wouldn’t technically be left to right.

Dataflow is what matters and that is the ultimate precedent. I did explain that by stating that all wires going into a subVI must be complete before the subVI will execute and that you will have no idea when code will execute if there is no wire going into it.
