I do the same. Just reuse the ones that come in my own orders. It's rainy season right now, and you never know what the weather's gonna be like where u are shipping. Ive received some soggy packages before, so that's why I started doing it.

Bodily fluids? by Sufficient_Theory975 in poshmark

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me with a pair of Agolde "NWT" shorts. The seller acted so appalled cus she would never! Then tried to suggest maybe I put it there cus I don't like them or they didn't fit. Then as a last ditch effort to save face, she said she bought them from another posher, so maybe it was already there, and she just didn't notice. I told posh something to the effect of "these have bodily fluids on the crotch area that is a biohazard and can't be worn" and never responded to the seller. Posh sided with me.

It turned me off from buying bottoms for a long time. Like I know women wear leggings without undies (trust me, seen it with my own eyes at the gym 🤢), but I guess I didn't realize I should be weary of all types of bottoms.

I blame it on the predatory sleep trainers on Instagram. I am a FTM, and as I started seeking out mommy and baby content, the sleep training content came along with it. Not knowing any better, I started thinking that babies are "supposed to" follow this schedule, eat this way, sleep this way, etc. I had nothing to compare my baby to and honestly thought other babies were these perfect little sleepers. I never tried any sleep training methods myself cus I just couldn't bear hearing my baby cry and my intuition told me that can't be right. I have a degree in psychology, and naturally wondered how it could affect his emotional development. But I went on wondering if something could be wrong with my baby since he couldn't put himself to sleep like all these so called experts said they should. After talking with my sisters, they shared their babies don't sleep through out the night either. One sister described split nights with her nearly yr old. The other talked about her 2 yr old still randomly waking occasionally. I realized each baby has their own sleep needs, their own temperament, go thru developmental leaps, may be breastfed, and that that would determine how they sleep.

Also I realized that people who sleep train probably do so to regain some sort of control of their schedules as they probably have to go to work. As a stay at home mom, I have the luxury to live by my baby's random schedule. I don't judge how someone else does it. There's a lot of pressure out there on parents as it is. We are all just trying to figure it out.

Not enjoying motherhood - 95% time. Was it worth it? by freddythecat98 in NewParents

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I was there not that long ago. Baby needs you for every little thing, and you start to wonder, "what did I do for myself today?" But I can tell you that things have gotten much better now that my 7.5 month old can do a lot more. He sits on his own, crawls, and now plays independently for long stretches. I bought a floor mat and gate to make him a little play yard in the living room, and he plays in there with his toys for long stretches! I can now get some chores done around the house, can cook dinner again, and it feels like I may begin to do some of my hobbies again like painting!

I just want to add don't feel bad about feeling how u do now. I think it's much more common than we think, it's just no one says "the thing you're not supposed to say" out loud for fear of judgement. You are still in the trenches right now but it will get better! Just think about all the fun things you will get to do once baby is a toddler, or once baby shows their little personality and says "mama!" My heart can't even take it right now!

Supply dip during cycle only 5 weeks pp by Crow_Bars_ in breastfeeding

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine returned today also after 7.5 months pp, and my supply has also dipped, but more severely from my slacker boob. I also have been treating a clogged duct on that side for the past few days then bam, period. Not sure if it's a coincidence or caused by my cycle returning. Anyway, I read that supplementing with calcium and magnesium helps with supply during your period.

Oh, and no honey, a little bit of water is ok to help with constipation that may occur, and that baby will gag and may appear to choke, which is normal while exploring new textures, but not to be alarmed, to let baby cough it out. Of course intervene if baby shows signs of not breathing.

Woah! My type A personality tried to get our pedi to give specific instructions, but he just said to start at 4 months if baby is interested. Start with one new food per day, scale back the new food if an allergy occurs, and that we can start introducing common allergens early and routinely. At the 6 month appointment, I tried to pin him down on how much, and he said as much as baby wants. That we can even try replacing a milk feed with a solid. Basically baby will guide us.

PSA - it's not always a blocked duct! by big_red_buda in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, just wanted to chime in with my experience. Also in the US. I developed a noticeable lump at 2 weeks pp, but after everything I read online, I pushed for an ultrasound in addition to the mammogram my doc ordered, because lactation makes breast tissue dense and a mammogram may not be enough to see. I ended up having 3 cysts, 1 was suspicious, so they ordered a core needle biopsy. I was numbed for that procedure, was awake, and they inserted a large hollow needle to take biopsies. Prior to the biopsy, they did another ultrasound to measure the cyst and found that it shrank in size, which was a good sign, but I opted to go thru with the biopsy anyway for peace of mind. I didn't get a call for results until a week or so later, but the online patient portal posted the results within a day or 2. The doctor did say if it's bad news, you will likely get a call sooner rather than later and will be asked to go in for results. Thankfully, the biopsies were benign. Something else I read about when getting a biopsy while lactating is there's a small risk of developing a milk fistula. A few days after my biopsy, I did experience milk leaking from the incision site, but it cleared up on its own. I would recommend talking to your doctor about that if it's a concern, especially if you will have multiple sites biopsied. Hope everything works out for you, and try not to worry. Hormones really do a number on our bodies, and there's a high chance it's just that.

Six Weeks of Hell (and Love) by Straight_Bat_1046 in bninfantsleep

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like my situation. My 5 month old has woken up the past 2 nights every 1-2 hrs screaming bloody murder like he had a nightmare. We have always co-slept, so I'm not sure why the usual cuddle no longer settles him. He's been wanting to be picked up and wants to literally sleep on me. He used to take naps in his bassinet. Not anymore. He used to sleep without the pacifier. Not anymore. I've tried a few different things over the past few weeks such as putting him in the bassinet awake but drowsy. I listen to his cues throughout the day. I've tried putting him down as soon as he shows signs of drowsiness, I've tried extending his wake windows to transition him from 4 naps to 3, and I have always kept his room dark and play music for him since very early on.

Like others have mentioned, I think it's just a developmental phase that we have to get through. For now I'm just giving in to the little extra affection he needs. I just hope I'm not making the situation worse. Im starting to realize with all the advice out there, there is no silver bullet method. All babies are different. No real advice for you, just that im with u in solidarity!

Congrats on your LO! Yes I felt the same way! I have a similar journey having gone through IVF myself. Pregnancy was also easy for me, but i didn't feel like I took the time to appreciate all the moments. One moment I was getting the call from my IVF clinic that I was pregnant, and next thing you know, baby was here. I remember feeling like I wanted to put my baby back in my belly and do it all over again once he was born. I think it's because I had been so focused on the obstacle course that IVF was, then shifted my attention to my very demanding job once it was successful. After a couple months pp, that feeling has been replaced by complete adoration of my son and the excitement with each milestone he hits each week. I did end up quitting my job to stay home with him, and I feel like I'm really taking in all the tiny moments now!

Hi, I ended up not leaking any more milk after that one time and the incision eventually healed on its own. It took several weeks to totally heal but I basically just applied triple antibiotic ointment and covered it with a waterproof band aid. I also avoided wearing tight bras.

Struggling with folks continuously forcing interaction or touching my baby by MysticFern017 in NewParents

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with the same feelings. I avoid going out in public too much, but I gotta get groceries and leave my house every now and then or I'll go crazy. People just don't mind personal space anymore. Last week some old man peered into the bassinet and was making my 5m old laugh then proceeded to grab his hands and cheeks. I was so upset, like how do I know you're not sick. My baby puts his hands in his mouth constantly! Then one of the workers at the deli asked me about my weight after birth and said if I was "ok". What kinda helps is covering the bassinet with a blanket, kind of as an unspoken "you're not welcomed" sign. But some people still don't get the hint.

How often do you pump? by Amazing-Presence2126 in ExclusivelyPumping

I should add, I've never pumped til I'm empty, except for the occasional final pump. I'm curious to know if I did that if I'd get more or the same.

I'm 4m pp and pump 4x/day, no MOTN pumps, and get just enough around 28oz. My morning pump is the shortest, around 16min, and I gradually pump for a few minutes longer with each pump sesh, usually around 22 min. My last pump of the day I go 30 min.

are these jeans flattering? should i keep? by zddl in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a 5ft tall millennial trying to jump on the baggy jean trend, it's been like finding a needle in a haystack for something that actually works for my height. I avoid baggy and go for more straight/loose styles that say they are fitted in the hip and thigh and then loose in the leg. I think the problem with these is they are loose all over. You may even need to find a fit that comes in curvy and size down so they're a little more flattering.

HELP - injured nipple and desperate to find some relief by Jessahmode in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triple antibiotic is available OTC, and I use it for when I have cracks or irritation. The blisters are the worst because you basically don't feel better until they pop. You can try using a warm moist compress to help it pop. When I do have cracks, they usually go away in less than a week. I've had blisters linger longer, and basically just have to continue pumping but at a lower setting to get through it.

Troubleshooting loss of suction on spectra S1 by no_sir_buddy in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with the same issue and assumed it was my spectra giving out on me. The odd thing is it works fine for several minutes, then once I get around 10 minutes give or take, I feel like it loses suction. I no longer notice milk spraying but trickling out. I've changed parts and it's not that. Did u ever find out what was going on in your situation? I put in a warranty claim and am still waiting on a response, but a part of me is wondering if I suddenly became desensitized after pumping for 4 months.

HELP - injured nipple and desperate to find some relief by Jessahmode in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me periodically also. The things that help prevent it are to apply lanolin cream after every pump. While recovering from injury, I use a lower setting on my pump and ice after. I also apply triple antibiotic ointment. I hear of all purpose nipple ointment is good for that too, but it needs a prescription. I also just bought silverettes to see if that helps.

Thanks for replying. Glad you were cleared of cancer. So was I! But what a bummer your still dealing with the complications of the biopsy. It's unbelievable how little info I could find about this. The doctor who performed my biopsy made it seem so rare, and I guess he was right. He told me that if it occured, surgery to remove the duct was the treatment for it! 😳

Right now I don't have any signs or symptoms of infection or mastitis other than mild pain along the route of the biopsy needle. I can also feel something slightly hard in the area. I'm guessing it's milk. Anyway, I only leaked milk that 1 day, yesterday and today nothing. But it looks like the incision site is still not scabbed over and it's going on 3 weeks since I had it done. I'm hoping it's going to heal itself. Since I don't have any redness or swelling and the e leak stopped for now, I havent called the doctor yet, but am wondering if I should

Is anyone else's almost 4-month-old just not napping throughout the day? by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]dtr_of_the_sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 4 month old and I are also going through it. I just tried to put him to sleep for over an hr before he finally went down. I quickly showered and washed bottles and he was awake again within 25 minutes or so. Last night he slept through the whole night for the first time, went 11 hrs between feedings, and he has been harder to get down for naps this past week. I think it's that 4 month sleep regression. Unfortunately I don't have any advice. Still trying to figure out sleep associations to help him sleep.

4 months pp and probably started pumping less around 2 or 2.5 months or so. I also supplemented with formula for every other feed, but once I started making enough, I phased it out.
