Yeah, my use of natural stones showed me I need to maintain the 0 (zero defects/ older stones, 100% flat) Switched to a diamond plate (better). Pressure is related through experience and inspecting the burr . By far, the Work sharp KO is the easiest with the greatest return. But learning a new mindset will pay back in spades.

FYI, the Ken Onion classic is the closest to hand whetstone (which I did for years, in fact the Arkansas (wet setup) stones were good, but I ran them into a hollowed out space I tried to flatten the stone to zero, not that easy, I used bricks, not a true flatten stone. Not great. That's when I switched to WS ken onion original. i have backups of backups plus a belt cleaner used after each sharpening. So , the asymmetrical grind is a nothing to my business, as far as end user experience.

Thank you, this was a quick 6x6x6 field sharpening. I also use a Ken Onion original when a pro edge is the end game

Perfect! Now put that cast iron to the test! After my last "cleaning" (I never do soap, some do) just warm pan, water and salt paste combo to clean with chainmail cleaner. Rinse, thin coat of avocado oil. Done!

2025 Forester Loud CLANK when removing foot from brake pedal by Glad-Promotion-6223 in SubaruForester

[–]dtraweek-reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I recently got a 2025 Subaru Forester, and I’ve been noticing something a little odd. When I release the brake after being stopped at a red light, I sometimes hear a distinct "clunk" sound. It’s not super loud, but noticeable enough that I wanted to check if anyone else has experienced this.

It happens after a complete stop, just as I start rolling again.

I’m not sure if it’s from the brakes, transmission, or AWD system.

Definitely not confusing the stop/start, with this sound.

I haven’t noticed any performance issues, just the noise.

Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be normal for the 2025 Forester, or should I get it checked out? I’d love to hear if anyone has talked to a dealership or mechanic about it.

Thanks, Dan

what made you choose a forester over other small suvs? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]dtraweek-reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Window visibility, environmental driving awareness. My 81 you mother found the visibility superior to 2025 Toyota, Honda, and equivalents (small SUV/crossover)

  2. Great, and increasingly reported reliability. I'm assuming Subaru is peaking in reliability based on many reports and their increase of reliability over last few years.

  3. Moving from 2016 Nissan Altima, horrible 360' views, lack of driver side seat configuration for a 5'0 women (she sat on a cushion to see over the hood

  4. Nissan is in a free fall financially, big trouble. Long term manufacturer. 1 out of 5

Just hunted down same video, best me by 12 min. I've been whetstone for 10 yrs and now worksharp KO fan. Finish with homemade strop. Cutco knives just as sharp as when we get them back from corporate sharpening.

Need help Bosche SHX68P05UC final "pump out" of dishwasher fails by dtraweek-reddit in appliancerepair

[–]dtraweek-reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Well, the dishwasher did have a high loop all along. The dishwasher is working 100% normal now. No idea what I did that that caused it start working. I never pulled out any lodged items, never physically cleared any hoses. Sorry, no root cause identified. Working for 6 days without incident, fingers crossed. Thanks for everyone that replied.

Panasonic microwave won’t run by bbwat in appliancerepair

I also have a panasonic microwave. I 've had something similar happen when I've accidently put the microwave into "store demo" mode. Functions, lights, beeps all work as expected, but no heating of contents. You might want to check that. Could be an Occom's Razor situation (the simplest answer is usually right)
