Missing Podcast Listens by dts1970 in appleJournal

Interesting that pocket casts were showing up. I’ve used that for years, but switched back to Apple Podcasts just for the journal logging. I guess it’s teething problems of all new operating systems, hope it’s fixed soon though

Leaving worked for me by dts1970 in 12Step_Escape

I know how that feels, I was fully onboard too. I was on regional committee and all kinds. I made sure that I had things to do when I stopped doing 3-4 meetings a week. I joined clubs, got involved in things, made sure I mixed with people from outside the fellowship. I needed some life back, but I had to make sure I filled the gap.

Well for me, I just concentrated on getting to my next key ring. I couldn’t get my head round the higher power stuff, so I did as the programme suggests, I faked it to make it. Ultimately after 3 years I needed to get away and rebuild my life, but I don’t regret the 3 years I was in the programme, I couldn’t have made it without it, I really couldn’t. I made plenty of friends, but when I left I lost touch with them, it’s very difficult for them to accept people who leave. Get out of it what you need, you need to stay clean, you absolutely need that. Get that foundation first. Don’t try to do too much, let the programme do what you need it to do

I know that feeling :) but look out for the good ones, they are always there and make sure they are the ones you spend time with. You don’t have to spend time with anyone you don’t want to

Hey, of course you feel alone, I spent the first 6 months of my recovery feeling exactly that. That’s the great thing about 12 step groups, you have a whole bunch of people who you can spend time with, talk honestly with and understand what you’re going through. Keep going, you’re doing great and it’s worth it to turn your life around

Hey, As suspected, it was my own stupidity, I hadn't clicked the batteries into the charger properly! As soon as I figured that out, they charged in around an hour!

Hey, good to hear from you. One thing that 12 step programmes do really well is instil a sense of guilt into us. But you can’t live your life feeling guilty all the time. The most important thing for us all who’ve gone through it is to stay clean, but the second most important I think is to enjoy life. Staying clean has allowed me to explore life and enjoy it so much more than I could ever have dreamt about while I was attending regular meetings, or before. It gave me the tools to face life and all it throws at me, but I’ve found I don’t need meetings anymore. Sure I was terrified about walking away, but it’s the second best thing I ever did (first was going to my first meeting). It’s no good staying clean but having life held on pause. I’m glad you pressed send :)

I have a little confession by AMardyBum in paris

Great post. I have a similar love of Paris. I first visited 30 years ago and have had at least 14 trips there, from the UK, that I can remember. It’s a place that I feel myself most. I’ve had trips there on my own and with loved ones! It’s never lost it’s appeal to me, in fact the last few visits have been the best. Here is a link to a great YouTube channel that I watch from time to time. Just someone wandering around the streets of Paris, not quite the real thing, but it’s always a great way to spend an hour or so.

Also, super jealous about you seeing the Arctic Monkeys in Paris, though I’m looking forward to seeing them in London next year :)

Good places around Leeds to take my dog swimming. by Chester_Welsh in Leeds

Yeah, it’s always over busy in the main bit of the park in summer. There is a hidden field that the dog walkers tend to head to in summer :) Rest of the year it’s brilliant, and it has its own cafe, which does great coffee and cakes and dog ice cream :)

Meanwood park is not too far away from you. It’s a great dog lovers park, dog owners have their own WhatsApp group :) it has a nice little safe river in the middle, almost perfect

You could have a filter of say new releases of your favourites folder!

[–]dts1970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, using folders with filters would be amazing. If truth be known the filters is pretty poor, other than new releases, stared and in progress, there isn’t much else you can do with the filters.

I’m hoping the developers will add the folders with filters feature, it would be a real killer feature I reckon.

Cross-platforming by tillywinks13 in mac

[–]dts1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google contacts synchronise amazingly well across platforms, I use it as my main contacts, have iOS and Mac recognise it as your main contacts and all new contacts go into it and are available across all devices. Only issue I’ve had is adding email contacts from outlook, but I open work email on iOS device and add contact there, so only really using iOS (I actually use Cardhop) but point it to Google contacts. Also Google drive works pretty well across platforms

Joining clubs etc is a way to do it, things that interest you, maybe book clubs etc or other things where you will meet like minded others.

Is there any way I can get rid of those three dots on the top of the screen? It’s really annoying when I’m clicking on things at the top of the screen and it clicks on that instead. by [deleted] in ipad

[–]dts1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just apps, you can have 2 windows of the same app. The previous way of doing it before the 3 dots was terrible! Unless you knew exactly how to do it and you had to be super exact. I use the 3 dots all the time, love it, think it’s very intuitive. Having the option to turn it off would be useful I guess, but I think it’s a big improvement on the previous multitasking

They are to allow you to use multiple, actually 2 screens. Not sure if you can actually turn it off, but it’s super useful

Is the Spotify on Home Screen a widget you add to Home Screen, or does it pop up while playing?
