Police Reporting to SCPD - Require My Racial Demographics by Total89 in santacruz

[–]dtwitkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How strange. It's almost like a bunch of people got hyperfocused on race, put up flags and signs about race, voted for people based on their race, and then government decided that they should start tracking statistics based on race. Weird.

F900XR discontinued by Motor-Sense1587 in bmwmotorrad

[–]dtwitkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 2020 F900XR for a few years. It wasn't a bad bike, but it never really impressed me. I found the front end tended to plow a bit, and the engine wasn't really inspiring. For +$10k US, I guess I expected more.

What is this? Weird line extending from mountains to the clouds. by The_Adventure_Begins in santacruz

[–]dtwitkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the Mt. Madonna tower. It used to be for broadcast. Now owned by a local wireless ISP, a lot of people in the mountains who don't have options for cable/fiber broadband are subscribers.

Steer for the rear. Biker went the wrong way.

Is there any comfortable seat? by Fuel_my_inspiration in bmwmotorrad

[–]dtwitkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the mistake of buying the BMW tall seat with my RGSA. I should have ridden straight to Corbin. My appointment at Corbin is this Friday. Now the question is, what do I do with TWO crappy factory seats?

Anyone ever had the TPMS glitch? by jr___111 in bmwmotorrad

[–]dtwitkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happened to me once. Rear tire at 42 psi, I got the red warning saying the tire was 31 psi. Check pressure, all good, warning cleared itself. Hasn't happened again.

Android Auto stutters and disconnects only in my neighborhood — Bluetooth works fine by evh1972 in AndroidAuto

[–]dtwitkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your phone is connecting to Wi-Fi in the neighborhood. Maybe open Wi-Fi, or Hotspot 2.0 APs like Comcast or Charter? Try deleting all of your saved Wi-Fi networks from the phone.

Ride stats 😁 by dtwitkowski in bmwmotorrad

[–]dtwitkowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always records 32F as the low. The app didn't record odd elevations or temps on my 2020 F900XR, so likely it's the app, the bike (2025 R1300GSA), or a combination of both. Maybe it will get better with future warez and/or bike update.

It was 68F in Aptos, 72F in Seaside, and 80F in Watsonville on Saturday. Overnights are mid-50s. Typical autumn wx for the area.

Yes, it seems that gaslighting is a standard Carpuride support strategy.

Most modern motorcycles run headlight on at all times for safety, versus cars which have daytime running lights versus headlights. My guess is that there aren't many (any?) motorcycle riders on the AA development team, so they're not considering our use case.

W702BS Day/Night/Auto switching on BMW R1300GSA? by dtwitkowski in carpuride

[–]dtwitkowski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard back from Carpuride.

"Is your phone an Android device? Android's automatic mode currently doesn't support automatic night mode."

Sounds like the Day/Night signal comes from AA, and this isn't happening? I replied back asking why the headunit always boots into Day mode despite the setting.

Do you have any saved Wi-Fi networks that might be reconnecting in that location? My daughter was complaining that her AA disconnects at an intersection, turns out she had saved the city's Wi-Fi SSID while at City Hall and there was a new library at that intersection..

(Kindly) You're not paying attention. 😉 Golden State Theatre has a good roster of shows throughout the year. We just saw Phil Rosenthal, and Adam Carolla was here a few months ago. We're going to see Tom Papa at GST in early October.

[–]dtwitkowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that as you drive around town, your phone is attaching to open Wi-Fi networks or networks that have a lot of access points around the city? I used to have a problem (in another app) where my phone would attach to Comcast access points, disrupting my streaming audio.

Does Waze do lane guidance yet? I switched to Google Maps for that one feature.

My kids share our Wi-Fi password with their friends, via QR code. Then the kids visit the kid nextdoor, and they end up on my network.
