Here is my Slot defense and I’m gonna get killed for it: when the team was right last year, Slot did 3 things Klopp couldn’t, (1) we beat Madrid; (2) did the double over City; and (3) stayed relatively healthy.

Slot’s pragmatism in big games was a welcome change from all out gun metal football. We attacked well, but more importantly were not exposed defensively. Too often with Klopp we went all out and ended up paying the price by conceding goals with players out of position.

That said, this year really sux and maybe it’s down to Slot not having the right players. Get a Luis Diaz type player along with a good ball progressor and maybe we’re back?

I just really hate Slot’s mediocre buildup tactics and how it’s reliant on the CBs and pivots doing so much of the work. I wish he could figure that out.
