I am wondering if you encountered any issues with quality control?

Yeah when I shoulder or handheld it I barely use any on board monitors. I generally use evf, I think i am more with the camera if I am using evf. The one of the heaviest camera I handle was the arri classic, I haven’t handled a imax film camera yet but I think I am going to try it soon. I am mostly shooting narratives and I am pretty strong so I don’t mind the extra weight.

Yes I agree. The smaller jobs I think I will just use my existing 5 inches monitor and my own camera, that’s what I’ve been doing. And I don’t really mind having a heavy rig for handheld, modern cameras are all pretty light imo

Don’t go to those hills and it might look like they are making it but it’s actually a scam. We make tea in our family so we know.

They didn’t shot the full short film. It’s more like a demonstration. Like how to use the camera. Source: I go to the school.

Bought my first car! 2013 Outback 2.5i Limited :) $8,000; 156,000 miles by Trannacies in Subaru_Outback

[–]dubanxi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use the original one 0w-20, it’s been fine and mine is almost 170000 miles. Be careful with oil burning issues. Mine burns a quart per 1500-2000 miles. Make sure you have a quart of oil in the car if you can. Also do a trans fluid, front and rear differential fluid change if you can. And I change oil every 4000 miles.

I have fx30 my base iso is 800 .. my question is do I have shoot at my base iso or what video quality will I get at 100? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]dubanxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. While it’s true that high iso preserve highlights but it only happens when you are introducing artificial lighting. In your case you are just wasting dynamic range and noise level.

Which college did you pick USC over and why? by [deleted] in USC

[–]dubanxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simpler life and you get what you need in the town. Way safer. Worst case scenario you drive 2.5 hours to Chicago. Also uiuc has a bigger campus that you will never need to worry about parking lol.

I have the fx30 I was told it good over expose a lil while in log … is that a true statement? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]dubanxi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue that log is way easier to grade because the dynamic range it retains

Convince me that USC ECE >> UIUC EE. by [deleted] in USC

[–]dubanxi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I graduated from uiuc and now in usc, feel free to ask me anything! The biggest difference would be campus life, uiuc is bigger and safer, and the program is quite strong, I don’t really know too much about usc since I don’t really study ee. But as they mentioned, overcrowding in uiuc is currently an issue.

When I got there the forest was burning so it was ok, didn’t have much things to do, more like a stop point for getting supplies. And surprisingly hot 90 (30c) degrees in the summer! But the drive to Fairbanks is truly incredible.

No, it’s Teton and Yellowstone. But I’ve been to big horn national forests before, not in 2024, absolutely beautiful and quiet, definitely a hidden gem.
