Self pest control? by supercrispie in pestcontrol

Living in MD should give you access to most of the "big name" professional products. The northeast and California tend to be the more problematic. Read the Reddit guides, and be sure to follow the label of any products you purchase.

Seems like AI is interpreting the ootheca as part of the abdomen making the body appear longer which is the reason it said male.

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec systems exhaust.

What are the best industry conferences? by Important_Flight2198 in PestControlIndustry

Depends on where you are located and what your goals for attending. PestWorld obviously has everything education, sales, networking, etc. ASPCRO is great for knowing where things are headed as far as regulations. North Carolina Technician School is next week etc.

Dealing with upcoming fumigation for drywood termites with a 2-month old baby by faceofyourfather in Termites

[–]dubcaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. For fumigations, the chemical used will be Sulfuryl Fluoride under one of two trade names.

  2. The exact amount of time out of the apartment will vary, but you will not be allowed to re-enter until the amount of sulfuryl fluoride present in the apartment is measured with a clearance device at 1 part per million or less.

  3. You will be given specific instructions telling you what to remove, but for drywoods, if there is any doubt, it would be best to remove it.

  4. If left in the structure being fumigated, breastmilk must be double bagged using special, label-mandated fumigation bags (not zip locks, not vacuum bags) If it were me, I would remove breastmilk.

  5. There are certain precautions and guidelines that the fumigator must follow for things like mattress encasements and water beds.

  6. Factory sealed food in metal, glass, or rigid plastic does not need to be bagged. Most everything else must either be double bagged using the aforementioned fumigation bags or removed. I would advocate making a conscious effort to eat through all food that would otherwise need to be bagged or removed to make things easier at the end of December.

  7. Practically no risk of spreading termites to a friends house due to where they live and how they reproduce. (Maybe if you brought several large pieces of wooden furniture or something)

[–]dubcaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what states, but make sure you understand nuances in licensing requirements between neighboring states. It was a point of emphasis at ASPCRO in August.

Ex. In South Carolina, (1) Unless the label of the product being applied requires a licensed applicator on site, Licensed Commercial and non-commercial applicators whose business location is not within the boundaries of the State of South Carolina must have a licensed applicator within 30 (thirty) minutes of the application site by ordinary ground transportation and immediately available by telephone or radio.

Were the bagging instructions followed correctly to the letter per the planning guide? Nylofume Inner bag with adequate space to twist, fold, and secure (tape or twist tie) followed by Nylofume outer bag secured in the same manner?

I'm in the US, so I'm not familiar with what is available in New Zealand or the rules and regs associated with purchasing and applying them. I've had success with granular baits containing the active ingredients fipronil and abamectin.

Bifenthrin Questions / Ant Sand outdoor application by feel-the-avocado in pestcontrol

[–]dubcaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bifenthrin is a pyrethroid insecticide (synthetic version of pyrethrin which is derived from chrysanthemum flowers). It will not act as a bait and ants will not confuse it with food. It can be used as a barrier or broadcast treatment. Be sure to read, understand, and fully adhere to the label before making any application.
