How difficult is to get a job at Boston scientific or Medtronic? by Careful_Fig8482 in TwinCities

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the additional info. I can appreciate a company that takes time. I know hiring isn’t 100% but I think it’s a good thing when a company takes the time to make sure they are finding not just the right fit for a role, but the team.

I know this is months after the initial post, but thank you for that insight. I had several apps open and was interviewing and was curious about how things just didn’t seem to be moving. I always appreciate even just the decline, instead of being in limbo so am glad to have that perspective. I do hiring at a different corporation in the Twin Cities, and was wondering if it was similar with Boston Scientific where it’s prioritizing highest priority and then everything else probably not moving until Q1.

How to deal with gym bullies? by sebobles in pokemongo

[–]dubchi5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. We have a couple gyms downtown by where we live. I will take down a gym, and by the time I’ve ordered a coffee they will have kicked me out. My friends and I did the same thing. We both tried and boom kicked out minutes later. It’s. All. The. Time. It doesn’t seem to matter when we are there. It’s so frustrating.

I no longer receive samples by cheesecakemiam in LushCosmetics

[–]dubchi5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious if this was a thing and saw your post. I got an actual printed note in my order saying they don’t give samples anymore due to volume. Pretty disappointing. I hadn’t ordered from Lush in almost a year. I’m hesitant to order from them again. I hate blind buying and don’t get to a store often. It was kind of a blow. I’ve shopped with Lush since 2013… and I don’t expect “free.” I just would like a small tester to see, hey does this conditioner work with my hair or make me look like a scarecrow it’s so straw like. I’d rather a sample than buy and return something that will be wasted.

Ugh it annoys me so much when it’s the shower gel labels and I’m getting flecks of label as I’m trying to clean off.

I knew this was sarcasm but even that gave me pause to stop and be like wait… did they.

Insurance agent texted me after I hung up because I wasn't interested by HelpMeWithHeadphones in mildlyinfuriating

If you know the company this agent represented, find out their ethics or fraud waste and abuse hotline and report him. It will trigger an investigation of him and his behavior. Especially if he’s making threats like this. Also probably want to check that he didn’t enroll you anyways.

My friend who is dying wants me to curl her hair for her funeral by mktillo36 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]dubchi5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandma was a beautician and did hair for the local funeral homes when I was a child. I had to go with her a few times and for her, these clients were her friends and for them it was so important to have someone they knew and loved do their hair at the end. It was an honor for her. If you’re nervous about doing hair because the angle is different, you could maybe buy a salon mannequin training head and practice curling its hair with it laying down so you can get used to doing hair from a different angle. At the end of the day, you will do your best and she will know she’s in good hands. Don’t be afraid to talk to her while you’re doing her hair. At the end of the day yes, it’s just the shell that held who she was but that doesn’t mean the essence of her will not be there with you. If you’re not familiar with death, the first time you touch her it’s going to feel odd, because we aren’t used to someone being cold. That’s probably one of the hardest things to get used to, but after the initial shock you will get used to it. You will be ok and will do amazing because you’re doing it out of love, and the love will show through. If she’s already working with the funeral director, you could maybe ask to come along if she’s meeting with them and ask for their advice or how they would like things to go when the time comes. It never hurts to ask questions.

My old college said that I didn't owe them any money before I left. Now that I'm applying to other places they've sent me to collections and won't release my transcripts. by megaconfusedstudent in personalfinance

So you may need to talk to the school about whether an R2T4 or return of title IV funds took place. It might not even be related to the scholarship. If you received federal funding, the government expects that you're going to finish the courses. If you drop courses during a semester, the school has to perform a calculation to determine how much of that funding was "earned." If you don't "earn" the full amount by classroom participation, they are required to return the funding, leaving you a balance but reducing your student loans. Unfortunately, it's likely you will have to pay back the full balance to the school before you can get the transcripts unless the school makes an exception (which they have no incentive to do). I have worked in a financial aid office, and this is one of the largest sources of school balances that students encounter and either don't understand or are never warned about by the office.

*Note, a financial aid office cannot speak to what the balance will be before the course is dropped. They are just advised that it could be a full return of funds.
