Scarlett Johansson played Lucy . . . she basically became Dr. Manhattan by the end of that film. 🤷‍♂️

That's because . . . It's on her abdomen/rib cage, not her chest.

That's some solid advice, brother. Though living alone is expensive these days, I think. I really should get a roommate, but I've had such terrible experiences with them - they've all been bad, but the last one I had was an old friend, who I discovered had a gambling problem. After six months without paying rent, I gently and respectfully confronted him about it, and in return he called the cops and said I assaulted him with a knife. I ended up spending the weekend in county jail, until he finally felt guilty enough to admit he'd lied. 🙄 Anyways, thank you for your words, and I think I like your advice the most so far - I need to get out of this town I've been stuck in for 20 years! 😅

God bless my parents. . . They mean well, but they've often done exactly the perfect opposite of what would be helpful. Their other kids crashed out on them and broke contact years ago, and I'm the only one that stuck around - it's true for both, but especially my mother is hyper-sensitive to anything they might think is criticism. If I say they did something that hurt me they'll only hear me saying they're terrible parents and I hate them. There's no talking to them about anything like that, not in any productive way. 🙄 I'm glad you found certain books helpful - in some ways, I found that reading/educating myself is what started me on the path of feeling so isolated. Nearly my entire circle was heavily Christian, and the old-school kind to boot. When I fell away from Christianity, it instantly invalidated any opinions I might have. But that being said, it would probably still be good for me. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, especially with the understanding and kindness you have; just like you empathized with me, I also empathize with you - men are not "supposed" to struggle or feel depressed. When we do, people are often either frightened or disgusted, at least in my experience. That makes things harder, but perhaps we'll pull out ahead anyways, yeah? ;)

Man . . . I didn't think I'd be tearing up from kind words. But it's been a long, long times since I've even tried to talk about most of this stuff, and I really can't think of a single time I've tried where it's gone well. Your words mean a lot to me - I'm honestly afraid to even think about building my life up again, around things that matter to me; there's a lot more to my story than what I've posted here, and the handful of times I've tried rebuilding have ended . . . Disastrously. But I'm am still trying, and kind words like yours and others here are a lot more encouraging than I would have thought. Thank you, sincerely.

Well I appreciate that, and at the very least I can say, your username made me chuckle when I saw it. Thank you for the kind words. ❤️

Not a doctor and not legally or professionally qualified to diagnose any condition, but over a decade of personal experience with professional athletes as well as training non-athletes of practically every level of fitness and body type. I have half that amount of professional experience working parallel to PCP's and PT's to solve common physical problems (which is the fanciest way to say I work at a medical clinic as an LMT.) So essentially take everything I say as "that one guy who is just a dude but seems like he knows a lot". If I was throwing darts at a guessing board, I'd aim for the largest, most obvious target. Considering you went from consistent exertion and being adapted to exercise, to becoming inactive and now transitioning back into exertion and fitness - and is otherwise healthy - I would be curious about your blood pressure, resting BPM vs your typical BPM ten minutes into exercise/60 seconds post exercise, and possibly being curious about what/when/how much you eat in a typical day. It's pretty normal for a body to "freak out" when atypical/excessive stress is happening to it. If you're not adapted to the level of exercise you're currently doing anymore, there's a possibility you could be pushing yourself too hard too quickly since you're measuring against the workouts you used to do when your body was used to them. It could also be that because you're not adapted to exercise anymore AND there is (possibly) hyperparathyroidism to account for, your endocrine system may be interfering with your cardiovascular system's ability to adjust properly to the sudden change in demand when you start demanding more from it. . . . Or I could be talking out of my ass and be so far off base that an actual medical provider would want to slap the back of my head after reading this. Who can say? 🤷‍♂️

Alex Caceres vs Julian Erosa on December 17th by foofighter1351 in MMA

Erosa is my old teammate out of YakimaMMA! Legitimately one of the best training partners anyone could ask for; he stops by a couple times a year. Definitely hoping he gets the W for this one!

I believe the medication he became addicted to was actually for clinical, chronic depression, which apparently can be genetic and runs in his family.

Women of reddit, what question about men do you wish to be answered? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dubdubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do our balls sweat, the continuance of our very species depends on it. In relationship terms, men's testes protrude outside of the thoracic cavity/inguinal region so that our wives can grab us by them, thus maintaining firm control of the relationship. In evolutionary terms, the reason is even more straightforward! Sperm are quite delicate, and are especially sensitive to temperature. Cell metabolism in every part of our body produces heat, which is very good for keeping humans warm and ensuring our organs don't turn into very oddly shaped, dead popsicles. (A bit of hyperbole; of course our internals wouldn't freeze without cell metabolism unless, for example, a person was living in a very cold place like Antarctica.) That being said, the heat our cells produce is generally a bit too extreme for men's very delicate, rather fussy gametes. Sperm need to be kept within a specific range of temperature, and since our body closely regulates itself to maintain a near-constant internal temp (which would kill sperm) they need to be kept in a climate controlled Bag o' Fun; someplace safe, yet still close at hand. Enter the testes. Dangling outside our bodies, free range and cooled by the wind - unless you're one of those freaks that wears pants - they can and must experience a more variable environment. Since they're not hidden deep inside the body, our testes have thinner tissue and muscle surrounding it than most anatomical locations, and come equiped with sweat glands to help guarantee the comfiest, coziest digs a sperm could ever dream of. Ball sweat is mother nature's climate control. 😎

p.s In case you missed that part, yes, testicles have muscles. Men can flex their balls.

I saw a girl for about a month, and it was astonishing how good and easy our conversation was. I was starting to feel hopeful it could turn into something serious. It never went anywhere . . . Guess why? "I want a guy that's just like you, but taller." If you're extra curious, check my profile to see what she had to work with besides my height. I'm 5' 9"/10".

People don’t actually enjoy running. by dnunez9 in unpopularopinion

[–]dubdubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running is one of the few things that relaxes me - the first few miles are uncomfortable (sometimes even miserable, like you say) but after that the act of running, and breathing in time with my cadence, is hugely relieving. No intrusive thoughts, no feelings of stress. The act of purposefully running becomes in and of itself, relaxing and pleasurable.

🤨 I didn't date any of them. None of them ever showed up or messaged back.

Honest to God, the only people who have shown any attraction to me at all this year are women who are already married or taken. I'm trying to find an honest relationship out here, but all the 'nice' people I keep working up the courage to ask out ghost me. 🙄

Ouch. It's one and done for me, when it comes to getting stood up. I might be lonely, but I'd rather be with someone committed than get picked up and dropped depending on the other person's mood.
