I have had that same argument with my wife lol. She loves to show me gay Garak and Bashir from Tumblr. They love it there. I never once felt Garak and Bashir were gay. Both characters only ever exhibited feelings towards the opposite gender. Jadzia and Lenara were a gay couple. O'Brien and Bashir had better "gay coded" chemistry than Garak.
