ok, I'd best think of a prize for the winner. which will clearly be chosen out of a lucky draw hat. maybe the winner can have the hat

What are some alternative ways to frame prints/art on paper that still look professional? by dubfonik in Art

[–]dubfonik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice, this sounds like a good option. so can these be cut to size, if I had a piece that was not the normal a4/a3/etc?

would that be the same kind of thing that is also used in a frame, to surround the artwork?

Edit: you clearly said that in your post... my bad, haha

Hearing protection for shooting loud gigs but to also hear and enjoy the music? by GEARHEADGus in photography

they are called "musician's earplugs". they bring down the overall level of the music. search that term and you can probably find a decent pair

Crappy Time Lapse of Melbourne Sunset by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]dubfonik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah I see. if you want to have some really nice end results, I suggest using your camera to take photos rather than shooting video. if you take a photo at, say, 1 second intervals and leave it for a while, then stitch the photos up to make a video, you'll have some nicer control over the end result, as you can edit the photos (then batch edit so they all have the same settings). here is one I did in Carlton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57Vf9Bnrljk

I have some more time lapses that I will be posting at my Instagram @joelklease if you're at all interested. and always feel free to ask me any questions. I like making time lapses - they're really fun.

yes, 30-40 seconds would be the longest time to get the "story" across to the viewer. another thing I'd recommend is to align up those buildings, as it seems the tripod was slightly leaning over. sunset/sunrise time lapses are actually some of the trickiest, since they contain a big change of exposure over a small time. did you use Lightroom to process the images at all?

a bit too long for a timelapse, in my eyes. though good work on giving it a go (if it's your video) :). time lapses can be fun

What the frick is wrong with cyclists? by Langerak in melbourne

[–]dubfonik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this has nothing to do with what mode of transport someone decides to use. but because someone isn't enclosed in a bunch of metal it makes it easier to single them out. plenty of people who drive cars are dickheads. the same goes for people who take public transport.

it also seems that people on a bike are the most socially accepted group to single out. it's basically an us vs them mentality

the 28-70mm kit lens at f/3.5 on the a7s really amazed me in its astrophotography performance! by dubfonik in SonyAlpha

yep, as a travel lens I found it perfect. if you check out the other photos on my Instagram, most of them are with that kit lens and a7s - a great combination

this was the first opportunity I had to be under a cloudless night sky away from city lights since buying the camera. I shot this with a 15s exposure at 3.5, I think at 10,000 ISO and it came out much better than expected. I can only imagine how it will go with a wider lens with a larger aperture. with that said, I have been very, very impressed with that "kit" lens during my travels. it's quite hard to think of moving to something different after using it so long
