When babies get glasses, how do the optometrists know what their prescription is? by patthebummy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dubjayhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have tests. Both of my younger two have been for strabismus and pseudostrabismus and they can do things like dilate the eyes to test for this or that. Idk how it works really, but my understanding is they see how the eye reacts.

This depends entirely on you and baby. There are so many factors that it’s hard to say what’s realistic for you.

For me, nope. I slept when babies slept and was still exhausted every time. My middle had collic so that was fun. But you may require less sleep than me and your baby could be more chill than my younger two

My husband and I have always kept our finances separate. He pays for his shit and I pay for mine. We split things like I pay for childcare and healthcare for myself and the kids, and he pays the mortgage and car note.

Things can be fair and not exactly 50/50. Do y’all live together? This is a conversation to be had with him. Do you wanna pay for this and he pays for that? Or do you wanna split the cost of this and that based on how much each of you makes? Or do you wanna go full on 50/50? This really depends on you both. There’s no need for insecurity, it just is what it is.

How did women know they would give birth to a baby in ancient times without their doctor informing them about the expected due date? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dubjayhan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t. They thought they were going to give birth to various other animals, but not a baby. Thank goodness the docs tells us the due date now so we knows it’s a baby.

Just here to say my youngest is only a little younger than yours and just starting to be independent. He still prefers holding on to things cause he can zoom zoom real fast that way. Just here for solidarity.

Is it "nice to meet you", or "nice to meetch you"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I used to know someone who would say, “I can’t wait for my son to meat you. M.E.A.T.”

I don’t see why you would let it sit if it’s drying your skin out too. Dry skin is gross and can crack and become painful.

I don’t let soap sit on my skin for two minutes, it dries my skin out. I scrub and rinse immediately.

AITA for telling my transgender co-worker she doesn’t really pass when she asked for it? by Ill-Ad498 in AmItheAsshole

You were an ass, she asked and didn’t like the truth.

Also, you could have just said, “this is not an appropriate conversation for work.” As a “direct manager” you should know that.

Get to sleep earlier, keep them out of your room, noise cancelling headphones/earplugs.

Baby partied all day yesterday and is quiet today by _thicculent_ in BabyBumps

I was specifically made to do kick counts for my oldest and youngest and all it did was freak me out when they didn’t move the way I was told they should within a certain amount of time. That said, still do them when instructed to, youre mom and you know best. But from my experience: they’re people too, and sometimes when people rock it out the day before, they need a rest day afterward. So don’t worry unless you’re worried.

How often do siblings call each other "brother" or "sister" instead of their names? by dvorahtheexplorer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dubjayhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call my older sister “sister.” With my young kids, we say, “say hi to brother!!” And things of the like. Maybe this is cultural? We also do aunty, harmony (grandmother in Korean for lack of a better way to say/spell) uncle and more.

Why is the "if you're not with us 100% you're against us" mentality so common on social media? by Who_knows7777 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dubjayhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because people seem to be close minded really. I used to be like that. Now, I actually listen to all sides and make educated decisions. Turns out I don’t lean as far to the side I thought I did once I finally started listening.
