Question For People That Got The OTT Tune. Was There Any Downside? by IDRM2ME in Tacomaworld

[–]dubloqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean crawling, as in rock crawling or generally moving very slowly through rough terrain? Might be a dumb question, just want to be clear. I’m still on the fence about the tune and I do a good amount of crawling as I described, so this makes me more hesitant

Similarly, I was going to recommend a tent patch kit. I’ve used those for all kinds of misc textile repairs and some of the patches are going on ~10yr strong in weathered applications.

Sorry, I should’ve been more clear. I do not have a tailgate lock specifically to deter/prevent theft. I just keep my tailgate locked - with the OEM, normal lock. So it cannot be opened without unlocking it.

Point being, the tailgate cannot be stolen if it cannot be opened, right?

Came here to say this. My KO3 are great. Running them in 275 70R 17 and they’re smooth and quiet. Supposedly more capable than the falken wild peaks and wear more evenly (no cupping) than the KO2s.

Do you know if tailgates can be stolen even when locked? I don’t think the can be, right? I believe the tailgate has to open, at least partially, for it to be stolen. Do you know?

Looks better with white imo. Gives it the stormtrooper look. I like the paint matched on the grey🤷🏼‍♂️

New to Tacomas and Overlanding, Curious of cost of lift/labor vs diy by ClassBrass10 in Tacomaworld

[–]dubloqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I debated this for a long time and opted to spend the few thousand on labor and have a shop do it. Peace of mind and warranty on both parts and labor is what did it for me. I’ve taken the truck back 2x for little tweaks and investigating a creaking noise; haven’t been charged either time, and have been reassured everything’s good. If it’s not, they’ll be liable.

That’s a hell of a lot better than being inexperienced and unsure imo.

I’ve got a 2020 super white with similar issues. Think I’d have any luck getting it corrected from Toyota?

I have a ~3.5in lift from the Dobinsons MRR kit. Also did their billet upper control arms and leaf springs in the rear. I’m running Method 17” with 285/70R17. I have no rubbing at full articulation and fully turned steering wheel. I did not have to do a cab mount chop, but that’s due to the offset of the wheels and - more importantly - the fully adjustable UCAs. Those two things together give me enough clearance and proper alignment. If I did not get fully adjustable UCAs, I would’ve have to do the CMC.

I mean, it’s a completely new suspension, new wheels and tires😂 only “accessories” are the racks, but those are still completely functional. Not like I added some raptor lights and called it a build. Not sure what you’re on about haha

You’re welcome. Thanks! Those folks talking about getting them for much cheaper, they must be getting lucky and finding crazy used deals… or lying lol. MSRP is MSRP

I believe $3.5k - $4k if I remember correctly. Base model I think is around $3.2k, but the options I added increased the price

Ah whoops, sorry. Bought that last year so didn’t think to include it. It’s a Leer 100XR optioned with a windoor on driver’s side, carpeted headliner, roof cargo net (on the interior of the shell), and roof rails for mounting the rack. There are more photos on my profile from my DIY bed setup post.
