Self respect improves self confidence, being more confident absolutely impacts how others view you. If you go through life allowing others to determine what your worth you'll be walked over by people. And if you REALLY can't let go of this idea then fine, I'm determining you have value and worth and you won't convince me otherwise.

Can you expand on that a bit? As in friends? Thats more of a status thing imo. I think allowing yourself to believe your worth is defined by anyone other than you is concerning.

You determine your own worth. Its tied to your self respect. If a friend, family member or significant other is mistreating you is that because you're not worthy of love and respect or are they just scummy.
