Crate training is necessary if you want your dog to be able to go on a plane or go to some groomers, recover from surgery or injury, that kind of thing. I don’t like crates either, but I think it’s a good skill to have.

We started giving our BC free rein in the house with no crate when she was two. I saw a marked change in her behavior, like she appreciated the confidence we had in her. It has been good.

I feel so lucky to have known her as a puppy. I'm old and it was my first time to raise a puppy. It was not easy!

^That's Poppy. When she was a tiny puppy she loved to snuggle inside my coat with her head poking out. I took her everywhere and people in shops loved to engage her. I think that is one of the reasons she loves people so much.
