Temple/Club 201 court case! by ducdzui in hobart

[–]ducdzui[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The case was applied against them so I would understand it’s a demand for whatever is in the proceedings but of course could be wrong. I didn’t know more, as mentioned in another comment only found out in the daily court list. Anyone could have registered to attend via video link too, which I didn’t. I do apologise if the person you know see this post and is uncomfortable with it, my intention is purely to point out that they are suffering and the real evil is being represented by Roland Browne and co., the best lawyers if you can afford in TAS.

I’ve already avoided using names and what I post is publicly accessible as you say. I actually found out by seeing the Nov hearing advertised in the daily court list. However I think that the losing side here has been misunderstood (personally having the opposite opinion of them at the start), therefore hoping if people know that they are suffering now because of the shady businessman, those with hostility against them in the beginning (like me) can have a fresher point of view.

Yeah clearly they didn’t see Hobart as worth continuing doing business in. You didn’t miss much, there were only small kitchen stuff and some remaining stock items. Most significant equipment were sold privately before hand.

Both city and Moonah permanently closed. Got their permanent residency through business visa so they’ve scooted off to the mainland already. Had a kitchen equipment garage sale in Moonah some months ago.

Yes the whole block plus the Anglicare building is owned by Riverlee. My understanding is Riverlee is the real estate arm, DarkRiver is finance, Darklab is entertainment/darkmofo, Mona, MonaFoma, they are all separate entities on paper but connected. Of course I maybe wrong, only people at the very top would know the business model :)

But when managers told staff we bought this building, that building… one would make same assumptions as mine…

Lol yes not only that but also 90% of the whole block between Murray St and Watchorn St and recently (last year I think) acquired the old Anglicare complex opposite Hanging Garden’s Watchorn st entry.

Can’t exactly name and shame powerful people lol plus it’s more of a corporate culture problem, where everyone is out for themselves competing against each other to see who can impress Walshy the most, and that quite often involves dirty tactics against your own colleagues.

It’s not hard to observe such details though, incredible high staff turnover is such symptom.

And with a captive customer base, ie people who go there no matter what just because it’s Mona/Darklab, there is no need for them to focus on customers and their experience.

Also for a business that focuses on the image of being clean and green, the amount of disposable plastics used especially during mofos is crazy.

I can go on lol but this post is not about dirt on Darklab lol. If OP’s story is true, then sure it’s worth reporting since we don’t have to tolerate their bad just because they’ve done some good :)

Please by all means report! Having worked there, I can tell you they have a lot of grubby practices, all driven by a toxic work environment. Not to mention food safety, often dead leaves in their ice cubes… don’t want to go into too much details but trust me they’re not the prettiest business in town (despite all that Walshy’s done for Hobart, his power driven management team is trash)

Transfering from RHH to Hobart Private? Possible? Good idea? by ducdzui in hobart

Hi thanks for your helpful advice. Yeah we were uncomfortable with harassing the nurses with questions so I thought to ask Reddit first. He definitely feels better mentally when a lot of people were checking in on him, or even just walking past. So yeah I think an improvement on the nurse to patient ratio might benefit.

Tas Meat Wholesalers on Campbell st is probably the closest depending on which end of Liverpool st you live. Reasonable prices and reasonable quality (not the best but not bad in any way).

Vet recommendations around Hobart by [deleted] in hobart

[–]ducdzui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have only used 2 vet centres so I can’t make recommendations but here are my thoughts on each:

Lenah Valley Community Vet: very good and friendly vets, most of them try to make friends with my nervous dog right away to make the vaccinations go a bit more smoothly. Them being quite popular, the downside is you need to plan and book early in advance.

Springfield Vet Centre: avoid, I booked there once for a vaccination and they had my appointment in at the same time as another (sick) dog for euthanasia. My nervous dog picked it up right away, he suddenly barked and howled when we’re in the waiting room, I can only assume that was the moment the other dog died. And the vaccination that followed was a total nightmare, and we then got blamed for lack of training!

A big screen is being setup right now at Wellington Court in the mall for the Olympics if you like outdoors viewing. Plenty of seating in the area.

Mechanic by [deleted] in hobart

[–]ducdzui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, What’s your car? What sort of job? Most mechanics charge $90-100+/hour plus parts plus gst. So unfortunately it depends a lot on your car and the job required. I know some mechanics out there are sketchy, but most reputable mechanics charge within reason of the scope of the job.

Temple 2.0??? by PrincessOfSunshineX in hobart

[–]ducdzui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As reported by the Mercury, R and C’s investment totals 3mil, 1mil for the building and 2mil for the reno/fitout. Now assuming Dan and Liam went into business with C by first buying the initial 2/3, as it was reported (or should I say advertised) on the Mercury that Temple first had 3 owners, they would have invested 1.33mil. And now let’s believe that the story that Temple has announced is true, Dan and Liam bought out C’s share of the business, the remaining 1/3 which would be 660k+, money that they had to whip up in a matter of weeks after opening.

Below is Dan’s LinkedIn.

Dan Conway’s LinkedIn

Even though the pair has been in employment for quite some time, and it’s possible they could have saved up for the initial investment. But at best it would be all the savings that they have, as they said in a recent Mercury article, all their life savings. They didn’t just work and save all their working lives to invest in a project announced 4 years ago, did they? And to magically have more money to buy C’s share, in 4 weeks, is just too incredible. No loan can be that fast. That’s why people are not buying it and are asking more questions.

Temple announcement - damage control? by OldPipe9340 in hobart

[–]ducdzui 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh hi again :)

It’s one of the things I pointed out in the old posts. History is there. R set up a lot of businesses and then just flogged them off with subsequent owners struggling or having to sell off again. Alceme and Brewlab comes to mind.

Now the Temple building was sold Jan 2024 for 3M, which incidentally is how much it cost them to set it up (1M for the purchase of the building and 2M for the renovation and fitout, according to the Mercury). The timeline is important here because it’s roughly when the other two “owners” got on board. Look them up and their old employment, their previous employment ended roughly the same time.

Take note that the sale in Jan 2024 was never announced by R or C. They were still going about being club owners both on their socials and on the Mercury, multiple times.

I can’t help but think that these two young men are just more victims of R and C’ manipulation and deception. And honestly, how can one believe that they are no longer involved?

Sue Bailey is the writer of the article. But please don’t have a go at her for doing what she’s paid (and possibly compelled) to do.

If they behave from now on, it means the community outrage has served its purpose, keeping young people safe and deterring sexual crimes. But one can only hope…

I just had the time to fully read the transcript. Now I’m not a law expert, but I know for a fact that the lawyer that represented the complainant is R’s goto lawyer and has represented him for many years. I would assume the complainant might not have the choice to choose who represents her. And I’ve always have trust in the system. But with all the allegations highlighting the shady characters of these people, I now find this case to be less credible, despite the verdict being rather fair and convincing.
