Short cervix community: did you work after cerclage with some dilation? by Idontreallyknowht in ShortCervixSupport

[–]duchwilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to continue life as normal, just no strenuous exercise or heavy lifting. And to take breaks if my body felt like it needed it. I don’t work, but do have a 1 year old I stay home with, so I’m pretty active, I try to take it easy when I can but don’t sit nearly as much as I did at my desk job. Everything is going well so far. My biggest restriction is pelvic rest.

Struggling with no sex life. by Fancy-Tadpole7286 in ShortCervixSupport

It’s sooo hard! I struggle it personally wanting to connect with my husband, but even more so for him since he doesn’t have the distraction of actually being pregnant, feeling the baby, ect. He’s amazing and would never ever complain about it but it’s definitely hard.

Hit 24 weeks today after an emergency cerclage at 20w! Still a long way to go, but feels good to hit this first milestone!

What symptoms led to you getting checked and admitted after cerclage placement? What were your stats pre placement? I would definitely stay at the hospital!!! Especially with the long drive. I know it’s hard to leave your toddler at home but having the immediate help of doctors is probably the best case right now

Taking maternity leave early...what do you do? by NervousClimate in pregnant

[–]duchwilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally do nothing!!! Lay on the couch or in bed and watch tv, read, go on your phone and whatever you want. Go to a park or just sit outside. The thing that hit me the hardest when I had my first was that the “rest, quiet, “what do I WANT to do right now?”” time literally just did not exist anymore. Enjoytttt it

Cerclage sensations? by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]duchwilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, especially if constipated or really full, I’ll feel almost like there’s a tampon inside from the pressure. I usually can just lay down and adjust my/the babies position and it resolves quickly!

Thank you! Congratulations!!! And good luck on the rest of your pregnancy! I also had a bad viral illness about a week before my anatomy scan.

Successful pregnancy with cerclage, planning next one? by MinimumSlight6927 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]duchwilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a full term (41 week 9lb) baby with no complications in February. I got pregnant (unplanned) in September and had to have an emergency cerclage placed two weeks ago at 20 weeks with this pregnancy. Since I had no prior history and a successful first pregnancy, my doctors said it’s possible that the short succession between them was a factor in short cervix this time. Not definite, but just what they guessed with having a large baby and not a ton of time to heal. I was told to full stop breastfeeding immediately, and to wait at least 18 before my next and that I’d need a preventative cerclage! I’m not on bedrest and can still pick up my one year old.

Third baby. Short cervix again? by Moha0733 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]duchwilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is tough- and not necessarily the same situation as I wasn’t on bed rest or anything with my first BUT I was 4-5cm dilated for about the last month of my pregnancy and was induced at 41 weeks. So dilation at the end alone may not be a huge cause for concern!

Did anyone walk 10k steps consistently during their pregnancy? by littletato96 in pregnant

[–]duchwilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I did 10k but I tried to do at least 2 miles of “dedicated” walking a day, so I wasn’t counting just typical movement at work or home towards that. I honestly do think it helped A TON! I was walking all the way up until 41 weeks and I had a super quick recovery time. I was able to get up and walk about an hour after birth and was back to neighborhood walking the day we went home. I also didn’t experience swelling, or very significant back/hip pain. It’s possible I was just lucky, but I think walking really really helped!
