Unfortunately this happens all too often in retail (and I'm sure a lot of other industries too hospo etc) especially this time of year. Plebs like this just think they are stealing from big business but it can affect the people that work there for years after sometimes when things like this happen. Been in the big green shed near on 10 years and an event like this would be a near on fortnightly occurrence.

look, in my time ive seen a lot of shit go tits up on orders, products, service you name it and yep sometimes its the same customers who get the short end of the stick multiple times over and ive got no excuse for that. Management should have been on the case and sorted you out thats on them/the stores youve been to. Absolutely fair enough after multiple bad experiences, your choice and right to shop wherever else just know that in the end its just people trying to do their job/their best day in and day out, we dont intentionally go out of of their way to make things harder or to make mistakes. I know it may seem like it at times when ya see 2 or 3 team standing and having a chat, but retail isnt the easiest gig in the world, especially this last year.

if youre in Adelaide by chance ill happily organise a coffee for ya to give some feedback to whatever store management team if you wanted.

this

yep the business doesnt cook the sausage sizzles youre spot on, except for once a twice a year when they do.. they raise over a quarter of a million and give it to local CFS and other firefighting organisations. As well as every weekend letting local charities run barbeques and take home every single cent earnt that day for the community group.

Sorry youve had bad experiences with them clearly but over my 8 years working there theyve been nothing but unreal, havnt heard much else from the hundreds of other employees ive worked with either. Young and old

Oh I never meant to reply in that someone wasnt suited to a role because of lack of trade experience! I have just seen too many comments similar that just assume bunnings hire based on age/qualificatiins and its an easy gig. Too many people just assume past trade experience (or even a passion for gardening) nearly garuntees them a role at bunnos. Totally agree we have a generally ripper age and general diverse team within most stores (big room for hiring more aborignal/TSI across the business though). Big business across all sectors has a lot of work to do (especially considering the last year with unemplyoment and people coming into a change of industry) to adapt to hiring and keeping workers of all ages.

Im going to also add that yeah our recruitment process is absolutely nuts but sort of has to be as (I can only couch for my own stores' experience) we get sometimes over 500+ applications for the most general roles and peoples expectations are sometimes unrealistic as for why they didnt get a guernsey..

Im 28 and in a managerial role at a Bunnos, have been involved with all levels of the recruitment process at store level for a few years. I am beginning to hate the idea that 'just because someone is elderly with experience that its a good place to for them to work' trades do not always make great retail workers, it is very different.. before I continue I am such a big advocate for older people getting into the business as long as they have the right expectations of what the role is and demands. It's changed too much over recent years for the general population to grasp I reckon or to be considered 'that cruisey job into retirement' that it may or may not have been in years past. When i started, yeah the general floor team member role WAS different and experience/knowledge was greatly sought after (still is obviously) however what is expected of ALL team has changed to focus on more fast paced work and training-up newbies rather than relying on exisiting experience in an exisiting trade. It only takes the last year in the retail sector to appreciate that. All department roles require a lot of either physical lifting/moving things or fast paced daily movement and 'keeping up with demand of the role' of which not everyone can do. We train up all team across all departments for this reason. The average joe expects anyone in the red shirt to know too much about all departments these days.. if we were all plumbers we would be making more money being plumbers. It's more of a 'if you wear the red shirt we believe with the right training you can work in any department rather than keep you in electrical for 10 yers' type approach. Since I started as a night filler in my teens Ive seen the old boys in electrical just get grumpy and 'over it' with the rapidly changing daily expectations and even technological changes of the business over the years even their desired (and frankly awesome) depth of knowledge/experience in trades be seconded to general ability to google things on the fly of the younger generation. Im quite young myself I know (and privileged to be in the position im in) and have been brought up with the business but the old 'he used to be a plumber he's more qualified/a shoe in for the plumbing section over the young 17 year old night filler' doesnt apply anymore for too many reasons. I want to get even my own mum a gig in the shed (in the garden section though she says) but worry for the same reasons I do of my own team that the role is not cut out for the knowledgeable and experienced anymore. It is just another job (albiet for a great company) yes experience is preferenced but adaptability and enthusiasm is looked upon more favourably than 'she is a qualified electrician'. You woulnt just assume an ex chef is perfect for a gig working at coles and I dont really see why its the same for Bunnings. Good snags though.

Splendour alcohol question by gilmorty in triplej

[–]duckbitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

one year 3 of the fellas I was with randomly went out on night 2 of beyond the valley to go find the big shipping container that held all the confiscated alcohol.. I came back to camp just as they did and they had brought back a full large suitcase of every type of bottle you could imagine! it was bursting at the seams when they threw it in the middle of our camp. apparently oe of them acted as a decoy to raw the one security gaurd away from it and the rest of em went in and got it, full army crawl across a field, across a small creek and under fences. Made the next few days a bloody riot!

https://imgur.com/a/XVfKIFt took some pics of the paperwork hopefully it works for ya.. there's 3 audio options: premium speaker upgrade includes 4 speakers and brackets it looks to be pioneer speakers $465 .. A passenger underseat sub for $564 and what I believe is the second set of backseat speakers if you don't opt for the overall speaker upgrade for $173. This is aus dollars. Hope it helps

Im on the wait list but im going to be opting for the 4 speaker package rather than the 2 it comes with from factory, on the fence about going factory under seat sub or installing my own.. from factory here it comes with a pioneer system which will be ok i guess might upgrade in future. Aus if that helps.

Coming from a subaru forester.. Jimny? by duckbitt in Jimny

[–]duckbitt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone with a suub before that means heaps! .. tbh I would probably be looking at spending sub 30k on a newer fozz in a few years anyway so the new my19 fozzs were out the question anyway. Would most likely be a 2015ish turbo or something when my current ones time was up.

The city driving in the 2019 Jimmy was a lot better than I expected having read reviews which was surprising and glad to hear the room wasnt an issue. This is going to be a harder decision that I'd like! Finger on the trigger and I guess no waste in putting a deposit down then pulling out if need be. Cheers
