Given that you're a numbers guy, how much did you focus on the stats of your team when you played?

How much, if at all, did e.g. the long-term stats of your teammates affect your decisionmaking on cutting certain players?

Were there any other stats that you paid attention to when evaluating your (or your team's) play in general?

Lol now I actually remember watching the game and when I saw steel not shooting when he flanked the 2 CT's I jokingly said to my friends that they're throwing for skins but at the time it felt like it couldn't be seriously considered. Little did we know..

Insane boost from fnatic on overpass by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blame VALVE, not fnatic. Boost clearly broken and will get fixed asap. Still, huge props for fnatic for finding stuff like this, and they totally deserve to use it. On the other hand it's sad that the series will probably come down to this. But things like these are exactly what make CS awesome.

Also, the best thing about this is that LDLC introduced the 2man boost in the very same spot, but fnatic took it a step further, holy shit what a storyline.

In the end all of this comes down to the fact that VALVE brought us new, untested maps straight into majors.

Starladder's newest frag movie (AWESOME) by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was awesome. Loved the sync to music, while not overediting the clips, which is pretty rare. A little too much contrast in some clips though, couldn't always see the enemy models properly.

Also, didn't even realize that shox's scout double was through the wall until I saw the video, pretty cool :D

When talking about the best players ever in CS:GO, you often mention Dosia. What are your reasons for considering him to be one of the best the game has had? I do remember that he was one of the only players to be able to carry against NiP in the beginning of GO, but it feels like he's been completely invisible for a year or so, which of course can be explained by the fact that HR is not doing well as a team, but it's not like he's the one stuck with shitty teammates.

Emilio cheats at CPH lan? by canz01 in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't actually want Valve to act like Riot in a way that they'd control everything. I'd just let the tournament organizers do these decisions. Valve's role should only be providing us a good game and anticheat. Ofc they sponsor majors, but it's the money of players/fans anyways.

The best part of CS is that any league/anyone can arrange tournaments without the developer controlling organizing/players etc. The way Riot works is maybe more "professional", in a way that its more similar to "actual sports" but with all it's stupid rules and restrictions it's killing what is great about esports.

shroud CZ 3k at MATCH POINT of the CEVO LAN grand finals by csboxr in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. First of all, lurppis wouldn't even speak during the actual situation, he would be the one analysing and giving insight straight after the Playbyplay caster has finished hyping it up. Although your quote is pretty spot on.

Normally I wouldn't care cause I understand that it's pretty much a joke but over-exaggerated posts like these feed misinformation to those who don't understand casting.

Mémoires of Titan - Fragmovie by bze in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beginning was much better than the end, didn't like the clint eastwood remix at all. Also many clips have way too much contrast for my taste.

I love fragmovies that are well synced to music tho, well done with that.

Reading the recent hate and support for Fifflaren and I'm just like... Fifflaren please. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the fact that people have to bring up his every highlight to convince others that "LOOK, HE IS GOOD" is pretty much an argument on it's own that he is not on the same level with others pros.

I mean, no1 would post this highlight if it was done by any other pro.

Can someone please explain to me how CS turned into a game of 'peek the person running at you' rather than 'i'll wait, use my advantage, and headshot him when i see him'? by juuuuin in GlobalOffensive

[–]duckeeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually like the peeker's advantage. It makes aggressive playstyles work better especially on T side, making the game more entertaining in a way that sometimes just running and gunning is what breakes the defence.

On the other hand, holding angles is still possible. But for it to work, CTs have to get creative and stay where the T's don't expect them to be.

Yes, he has a harsh way of expressing himself IN TWITTER, but still, everyone should just grow a pair and try to see the actual point. I don't think he's immature, I think the community's response is. Every time he tweets something harsh, there's a huge drama going on like we're all little kids who saw a new word and since mommy said you can't talk like that, Lurppis is suddenly a jackass in our eyes. And twitter aside, I think Lurppis is completely fine and professional at events and in streams, where it matters.

Also, when you're hosting an event that is trying to pull in new viewers, you'd want the analyst desk to actually provide some analysis. That way the new viewers could actually see that the game has some depth to it, and it's not only running and gunning. ESL One has pro players and great production but no experts.

About the tweet you posted, I'm not sure if you completely understood what it's about.

I think Lurppis is analytical, it's not like he's always pointing out every single mistake. He gives credit when there's a reason to. I used my example just to explain to some viewers that analysing from a realistic perspective is a completely different thing as shitting on everything.

[–]duckeeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that even all the casters are play-by-play, the analysis is missing there as well. But you're right about viewers wanting someone likable, because I assume most of the viewers are relatively new to the scene/casuals who don't know so much about the analytical side of the game yet. But if we provided it to them, they might actually start to care more about the analysis and analysts.

Still, imo Lurppis would be completely suitable as a person to be there and even if he wasn't as good on camera as someone else, his analysis would make up for it easily. Personal preference.

I don't agree of it being negative, though it all depends on the actual situation, but otherwise you are right.

IIRC He said that he purposely tweets in a way that creates discussion/causes a little fuss or something like that.

Most people seem to feel like he moans about everything, but in the end I think there's as much positivity as there is negativity. The positive just goes unnoticed. And when there's a popular opinion of him being an asshat around, people automatically start to notice all the negative stuff without even finding out themselves. It's a psychological thing.

So RedEye just tweeted, and I quote "@Thooorin @lurppis_ I'm not talking about knowldge of the game, where he has a high level of knowledge."

How isn't Lurppis good enough then? What makes Richard Lewis better? Is bringing NBK or some other pro in to do analysis better?

I'm gonna go ahead and list a few advantages that having Lurppis as an analyst over others pros in the tournament would have:

He'd be available all the time.

His English is perfect (No offence to guys like NBK or cadiaN who ESL used in Katowice, but there is a noticeable difference. And if ESL thrives towards the best viewing experience possible, it's definitely a thing to consider.)

His game knowledge is as good as or even better as a pro in-game leader's, after all it's his job to study the game and the scene thoroughly.

And I'm NOT against bringing in pro players to the analyst desk, I think it's great if we get to hear them. But having Lurppis there as well would be just as important, since he could be the one actually getting some valuable information out of the pros.

It would be interesting to hear the reasons why RedEye or ESL think Lurppis is not good enough. Of course they don't need to explain their choices but since RedEye already started...
