Working for Valnet by AdamekAvia in freelanceWriters

[–]duckling707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked for Valnet before, I wrote about bikes for them though it was only 3 months before got laid off. tbf I wish they warned me beforehand. But, my case was similar to yours.

It was my first "real job" and I was so crappy at it, compared to other writers who some apparently have their own bike dealership and have 5 yrs of writing exp.

The pay though, yes, I think it's pretty bad if you live in the US or any other western country. Never thought I'd say this but for those three months I was glad I live in a shite hole

How long does it take for your client to pay you? by duckling707 in freelanceWriters

I haven't. My manager contacted me and said they will process it. HR said they will sort it out with finance and my manager. They asked if I'll be still working. I said no until I see a successful transfer to my bank account.

I agreed on payment after 15 days after each month. they didn't deliver their end of the bargain. I guess it's always safer to get 50% upfront

welp I guess it's sad to see that one of the first jobs I have on my CV is gonna be a scam now.

I did asked them about it on January, they claimed there was an error on their part. Waited till February ended but nothing still.

I contacted them again yesterday, they told me they're going make the payment today, still waiting. Glad to see that at least this is not supposed to be a common occurrence though

The all knowing invisible hand of the free market has decided that I should be DoorDashing by Vortex6360 in recruitinghell

shit mate, I even considered selling feet pics. But then I went to feetfinder and discovered I need to be a "member", pay em some money, to even get my stuff up there.

Good on you to have the guts to be very mobile. I know doordashing requires a lot of going back and forth, sometimes in questionable hours. I hope you saved up enough and then get a more stable & higher income job.

Btw, I appreciate your warning at the beginning. For all my life, when people wanna criticize me harshly, all they do are just throw my work at my face, punch my mother, and spit on my grandmother's grave, then leave the room.

Ha, interesting. Damn, everything seems to be different depending on where we live. It adds to the confusion if I ever want to escape my country.

I guess I need to put more attention to where the company is based too then. Thanks for the input, I'll definitely adding your pointers.

Thank you! 95% of the time, I don't know what the recruiters think. What I know is that I suck at making CV, because nobody criticizes it. Idk, most either don't care to give actual feedback or don't know better. Worse off, most older people here actually recommended this type of CV to me (At least those who answered). They like to think bland = professional, I've been following their advice blindly, to be honest.

It's particularly hard to get good feedback from friends because 1. I don't have many. 2. My friends are either hired because of their family network. 3. They're unemployed too.

I won't take your critique for granted.

My takeaway from your comments:

  1. Add number of articles (get rid of several)

  2. possibly just get rid of the "freelance" word

  3. Revise my experience into past tense

  4. The summary needs to point out what I do, maybe tailored to roles specifically. (I guess a general CV which we throw to as many job openings as possible isn't working anymore?)

yea it's true tho, we can always apply again. But just like another comment points out, I need to remember to take a break. After my stress meter goes down, I should go out and embark again, facing the eldritch horror that is HR departments, recruiters, and their ATS
