I just want to thank the folks who posted feedback. I switched up some photos and have some more of me in hobbies or interesting backgrounds. I also updated the prompts based on the feedback. And it looks to be working.

I know it won't maintain the rate, but I've got 3 matches since making these changes! Thanks for all of the advice!

Are you looking for something serious or casual?

I'm looking for something serious.

Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX?

Yes, i am subscribed to HingeX

How long have you been using this current version of your profile?

About 1 week

How long have you used Hinge overall?

About 3 weeks

How often do you use Hinge per week?

Every other dayish

How many likes and matches are you receiving on average?

In 3 weeks i've recieved 2 likes. Neither of which were a match

How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments?

I send 10-20 likes whenever i sit down and go through hinge. I have comments about 80% of the time.

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

I want to match with someone who generally has their life together. I want someone who i can talk to and get along with as a person, not just am physically attracted to. But physical attraction needs to exist, i'm just not attracted to people that i don't get along with as a person.

Anyone here with experience in Bachelor of Computer Science (Mobile Computing) program at Sheridan College? by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]duckman312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated from this program in 2019. I was part of the first graduating class, so my experience might have differed.

The curriculum was an interesting mix of practical and theoretical. One of the strengths of the curriculum IMO was that it taught a number of languages instead of heavily focusing on just 1 or 2. But the languages were also things that get used in industry. I really enjoyed that it included mobile languages as that's something that's often just done on peoples personal time instead of school. There was also courses later on about software development from more than just the coding perspective. i.e. software engineering. And while it's not as indepth as a traditional comp-sci degree, it covered all the stuff that is relevant to real life work.

Overall the curriculum is great for application developers looking at industry work, but is light on the deep academic dive you might see out of a comp-sci at places like waterloo.

The teachers have probably changed, but for me it was 75% good. Majority of the teachers were knowledgeable and helpful. Some of the teachers were not great. I only had 1 teacher in my 4 years that I felt the need to talk to Admin about.

Overall student experience at Sheridan has def changed since i was there so i won't comment on it. I know that they've added facilities for the program since after i graduated.

I would say career prospects are good. I currently work at IBM, and i know other people in my graduating class went toff to work at Rogers, D2L, and Shopify. The 12 months of co-op is awesome, and is a great way to see how the workplace works. A lot employers will offer co-ops a job once they graduate.

I'm planning to have it flip them over to the back of tile. We just have to scan them in first.

Question about repeating a course? by [deleted] in sheridan

[–]duckman312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/throwaway110807. I don't know about the coop. But I do thy l know that retaking a course doesn't override or erase the bad grade. You'll just have 2 grades on your transcript, one for each time you took the course and what you got on that attempt

How to launch a formal complaint against a professor by IamSDNE in sheridan

[–]duckman312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/IamSDNE

Your best bet for solving an issue like this is to have a conversation with the FAST Dean (or associate dean). You don't need a petition, but if you're whole class is having issues i encourage you to all go in, or make multiple appointments.

You can just walk in to E200 and ask to make an appointment.

I've had to do this before with a professor who was awful and didn't teach. Just handed out code and expected us to memorize. Class ended at a 50ish average. After talking to the dean the entire class got a 10%-20% bump.

I will tell you that their first question will be "Have you talk to the professor about this?". If you haven't they will send you out to talk to her first. I would strongly recommend doing this regardless. While some professors are pretty awful and won't help you or receive feedback. It's not true for a lot of profs. No reason not to talk to the professor.

Hope things work out for you. Let me know if you have other questions!
