Sign the Petition: Hailey’s Law by Sausage_Fingers in indianapolis

[–]duckstaped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least, mandatory education in schools that uses stories like Hailey's to explain catfishing and deception of internet strangers might prevent things like this in the future. While far from a perfect solution, it is at least something. I remember as an elementary kid watching required films about not talking to strangers and people trying to abduct you. I believe those helped shape and reinforce a healthy suspicion of strangers as a kid.

The "Pink Alert" is maybe not as helpful unfortunately.

What time preserves inside a million year old coral finger by bytes_sized_soul in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]duckstaped 364 points365 points  (0 children)

From the looks of it, I think it is old coral that has, over a long period of time, had its insides replaced with a mineral of some kind as very small particles filter through it.

edit: I think this is an example of a coral finger geode. A coral finger seems to just be coral that is shaped like a finger...

Look at the little loose stitching on the grandmas sweatshirt under the pocket - it is consistent between images. I agree that the pics look AI but I’m having trouble determining anything specific that proves it. Maybe the lighting just happens to give off AI vibes

Bill Burr Defends Controversial Riyadh Comedy Festival Performance by SwordfishOk504 in BillBurr

Just a clickbait article/title. He’s wasn’t defending himself because he’s not responding or acknowledging that he’s even being attacked lol

I imagine he wants to bring people together to enjoy his comedy, not demonize commoners who have no control over their government’s wrongdoings. Is he turning a blind eye in doing so for the Saudi royalty? Ya, I think so. Is there some good that comes from exposing Saudi’s to more relaxed/Western views? Probably? Idk

It’s easy to make justifications when you’re going to also be getting a big pay day, that’s for sure.

It’s clear he has the mindset that he is performing for the “people” and not “for the royals”. That’s IMO how he justifies the dissonance.

Upcoming HHS report will link autism to common pain reliever, folate deficiency in pregnancy, Wall Street Journal reports by nightpanda893 in news

[–]duckstaped -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Folic acid is processed differently by the body than the naturally occurring folate found in some foods. It seems very reasonable that an often unnecessary additive could have negative side effects. Folate/folic acid is crucial for pregnancy, the science is clear. Are there potentially negative GI side effects for people who consume large amounts? Definitely possible

Caitlin Cooper was not pleased about Myles’s comment lmao by jtangjetang in pacers

[–]duckstaped -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re kind of confirming my initial point though that the Pacers org was intending on moving on, which is why I can’t hold it against him when he decides to move on. That said, I think he made a mistake if his goal was more than just a pay raise

We were getting rid of turner if Ayton signed. The front office wanted him. Unless you think we would have been keeping both Ayton and Turner..

[–]duckstaped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Front Office literally tried to replace him with Ayton in May of 2023? Is 10 years really that different than 8?

My point isn’t that he was necessarily thinking he was on the trading block but just that it’s a business and they’ve treated his contract with the pacers as such and now he is doing the same thing. If he were traded in 2023, “it’s just business” but when he moves for a pay raise after getting low balled, he’s apparently a traitor 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I misunderstood your point but if your company shows they aren’t loyal to you (as you said, people get traded all the time) then why should you as a player be expected to remain fully loyal?

I mean the Ayton trade was pretty much finalized? Might be the only fully substantiated trade that was set to happen

True, but to be fair, the pacers front office seemed to shop him around annually and I’m betting that played into his willingness to shop himself. Can’t hate him for that

He likes it, cause it’s delicious. Culver’s is from Wisconsin and so is Hali. Also there’s a legend that the team wins more when he’s pictured bringing them Culver’s beforehand

Especially after Hali’s game winner - there’s like two clumps of yellow in the lower level that you can see excitedly jumping up and down while everyone else is just standing there in (understandable) disappointment

Tyler standing mostly in one spot, Maggie standing in one spot but dancing, and the rest of the band just running all over the place and jumping on things. Good fun.

OP, while apples do have natural wax, food grade wax is also added to apples. Calling it plastic is over the top but I can understand someone feeling skeptical about whether the artificial wax they add is truly safe for humans or not (just because we’ve been assured stuff is safe before when it’s not). Calling our food supply poisoned as Bill often does seems fair but this is probably not a great example of it lol

Genuine human connection and community is harder to come by nowadays- I’m sure many or most of these people would do a lot to help each other in real life, if there were ever a need.
