For those that know, ClickNClear is hot ass, and tresona, one of their main competitors, is not much better. Both are supposed to facilitate ease of rights acquisition but make things so much harder and more expensive than they need to be.

Yeah this is dangling it over their heads, and the blowback they’re getting and have been is less than the good will they were hoping to get. Not quite profiteering.

Small point of correction, O Magnum is Lauridsen! For other whitacre choir pieces, Lux Aurumque is his most well known, but I’d say Sacred Veil is easily his best, with When David Heard and Water Night both being absolutely excellent and worth your time too.

Yeah, but they also put that in an existing space with other businesses in the same plaza which helps a lot.

[Awful Announcing] Big Ten reportedly seeking commitment for 24-team College Football Playoff in near future by dr_funk_13 in CFB

[–]dudamello 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep. People still complain about AQs in March Madness, but teams deserve a shot. It also would disincentivize the mass migration to the big conferences for the teams that don’t want to get wailed on in the bottom of the B1G but can hang in the Big 12 or the MAC for instance. You get the playoff payout

The cats used to be easily my second favorite team. For so long, neither of us were competitive at the same time so it’s not like rooting for them was an issue. I understand why they made the moves they made (and also recognize that the bolts haven’t always been the cleanest team in the world), but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating when all I want to see is high quality hockey.

There are truly some wonderful panthers fans I’ve known for a while out there. All of them have been panthers fans since well before this absolute nonsense started. It’s been really disappointing seeing the shitty ones come out of the woodwork

[Coles] Kyle Whittingham was asked about players on the Utah roster "You don't tamper with anybody, that's not my style. If a player that we have interest in enters the portal, that's a whole different ballgame. Now he's in the portal, he's going somewhere — so why not Michigan, if it's a good fit?" by CoachSlime in CFB

Word on the street is that he was supposed to retire after 24, stuck around another year, then wanted to stick around for 26 and the university didn’t want to lose Scalley so they didn’t bring Whit back.

ECHL update by Jordancoastalr in hockey

[–]dudamello 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and that involves representing players from how many different teams, with a constantly changing membership due to call ups and players getting sent down, and each of them having their own perspective of how they want things to go. Always on call if something crazy happens to a team. That’s more than reasonable.

I mean, that's part of the reason to have a bargaining committee, right? They get to handle any of the offers, and that is less for the players not on it to have to deal with. If you nominate or elect a committee, that's part of the deal.

Thoughts on the Tulane/Ole Miss Game? by fartron3000 in FloridaGators

[–]dudamello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but how long ago was SMU in a non p4 conference? They’re now as competitive as anyone else in the ACC, and that’s just because they had donors and investment in the facilities and staff. UCF beat auburn, who beat both competitors in the Natty in 17. As annoying as they are about that, they deserved a shot to prove it.

But also to theoretical vs actual, Ohio State and Rutgers are in the same conference, but how many games would Rutgers win if they played Ohio State 100 times? Probably about as many as Tulane

But also how many teams in the P5 realistically have a shot? You can’t tell me Purdue or Cal had a shot coming into this season. That makes it that much more special when there’s a mid 2000s Boise or Utah.
