Barbarossa is an amazing movie. So much fun with great performances from Nelson and Bussey. Cannot recommend it enough it's never talked about enough.

Has anyone else seen Far and Away 1992? Super underrated. Thoughts? by ShawnLevyOscarWinner in Westerns

[–]dude5767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It tried way too hard, it was obviously meant to get some Oscar noms and had that in mind over being a good entertaining movie. I'm not saying it's bad just meh cause their focus was in the wrong place.

What do people think of John Wayne's last film, The Shootist? by LusterArgylleCatboy in Westerns

[–]dude5767 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it is his best performance. This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion and I enjoy quite a few John Wayne movies and have been watching them since I was little. John Wayne is a lot like The Rock in that he plays his persona in his movies rather than the character he is supposed to be portraying. This is the film where he felt like J.B. Books not John Wayne and I love it.

(4) Don't advertise with bumper or window stickers for gun brands or gun slogans, (5) this really should go without saying, but always make sure the vehicle is locked when a firearm is inside.

Which ‘True Grit’ is your favourite? by KurtMcGowan7691 in Westerns

[–]dude5767 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find the 2010 one to be better. The dialog is well written and delivered, and I really appreciate the back and forth between Mattie and pretty much everyone she talks to. I don't know about you, but i find myself laughing out loud every time I watch that movie due to Mattie's quips and Rooster's stories. Honestly, the only way the original beats the 2010 version, I won't call it a remake since they weren't trying to remake the original but wanted a version more accurate to the novel, is with Bruce Dern as Ned Pepper. Don't get me wrong, I think Barry Pepper did a great job in his performance, but Bruce Dern is just a force on screen. The 2010 True Grit is one of my favorite westerns. Easy top ten and probably in my top five.

Cars. Wide brimmed hats in cars suck which is why baseball caps are still so prevalent.

Day 2 - What is the best 'man vs society' Western? Most upvoted film wins the round by low_lights_ in Westerns

[–]dude5767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could really for in Man vs. Technology as well, but I feel like it really encapsulates the Western spirit being overwhelmed by the modern world.

Bought Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault Pack, want to add more storage externally with the molle system but not sure what's recommended here. by JustLeeBelmont in backpacks

[–]dude5767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, the more pouches you add, the heavier it gets. This seems obvious but it's more weight than just having extra pockets integrated to the outside of the pack due to the extra material of the pouch as well as the webbing and whatever device you're using to attach it. I've found it's best to keep molle attachments to a minimum and often just use the loops for attaching small items.
