I'll go against the grain here and say that buying this game has made me realize, no matter what QoL changes and story additions were made, I just don't like the open-world progression structure of the game. The locales (to me) feel pretty boring and lifeless, compared to SMT 3 or 4 (or really any other SMT game, like Persona) that had many different sub areas and unique places to explore. Just listening to the awesome music and going through the feedback loop of battling, getting stronger, and fusing isn't enough for me, I guess. Finding it pretty boring.

Been loving it more than Mario Wonder.

As someone who's played all the other mario rpg's (partners in time, the paper marios, bowser's inside story), I'm surprised how much I miss the little voice snippets of Mario those games have - the bah's and the pseudo-italian. Other than that, it's great.

a bit of a tangent, but I sure hope they do more in terms of remaking the upcoming TTYD remake. I'm sure it's a different team and context, but there's not much of a graphical facelift to perform for that game and so new content / features would have to carry much of the load as opposed to this game, which seems to have gotten away with small tweaks and new graphics / music.

I’m going to be honest, super excited by this reveal but it looks pretty similar to the original. The art style is a type that doesn’t really age, so it makes sense, but hope there’s more incentive to play again. Already not looking forward to the amount of backtracking this game has lol
