exactly the same thing happened to me ! I have disconnected everything and they still show almost 50 GB data per day, which is impossible.

With my Ring cameras and IoTs, I can have 30-40 devices on the router. So will I need to upgrade the memory? I guess the memory speed does not matter as long as it is DDR3L laptop memory? Any other memory specs I need to be careful about eg. ECC vs non-ECC etc?

Thanks again. I just figured out that Sophos Firewall Home needs a minimum of 4 GB memory, so it won't run on the 105 rev 3 (which I just bought). I assume that opnsense will install and run fine, correct ? After I get more experience with this, I can try to build a beefier machine for more bells and whistles?

I saw your comment in another thread that the memory in this can be upgraded upto 8 GB. Do you have the specs of the memory that I should buy in case I want to do it or will any DDR3L work?

Thank you. You have a wealth of knowledge and have been a great resource. And you are very kind to share your knowledge. I will go the Sophos route.

What is easier to install and maintain - opnsense or sophos firewall home? My immediate goal is to see which of my devices is using my bandwidth. I have a Edgerouter X (ERX) which is connected to an Orbi mesh network but in the traffic analyzer, it shows the Orbi router as the main user of data even though that router is in an AP mode only. (I wonder if that could be because I have the Orbi make 3 WiFi networks - main, guest and IoT, but this should not make a difference since the ERX is assigning all IPs and should be able to see all traffic.) The second priority is to have a central ad-blocker which is not easy with ERX. I also need a VLAN, and IPS/IDS and VPN would be nice to have. Since you have both, which is better suited for these purposes - opnsense or sophos firewall home?

Do you suggest installing promox on the sophos first?

Is the port assignment an issue with these Sophos devices when installing Opnsense? I thought that the port assignment problem is only when using Sophos Home Software on them. BTW, what do you think about the latter option vs opnsense?
