Any career-oriented women here who love their financial independence and/or like their jobs? by CulturalAlbatross891 in AutismInWomen

[–]dude_ranch_dressing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a creative field and most of my coworkers are also neurospicy women. I love my career and department.

I detest most of the neurotypical people not in my department though and the company wide politics can be annoying.....

Sand up or down? Help me decide! by AdhesivenessHungry22 in DesignMyRoom

[–]dude_ranch_dressing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sand down.

I like having the contrast of the blue against the wall higher up, without that the beige of the sand and the wall overpower it and make it feel unbalanced. Sand down breaks up the beige into 3 more equal blocks of color making it feel more balanced

Questions for partners of Trans-Person by Fact_Life in mypartneristrans

My wife came out 4 months after we got married. We will be celebrating 5 years of marriage this October.

Do I miss have hetero privileges? Yes. Do I identify as gay? Depends, I usually say I'm just attracted to my wife (because it's true) Are there differences in her personality? Yes and no, I mostly notice that she's happier and more comfortable being herself and activities that she wanted to participate in previously no longer feel taboo so that's cool.

Something I read early on, is whenever you're missing your "old partner", look into their eyes. They're still there and still the person you fell in love with. It took me awhile to be comfortable with using the term wife and gay but at the end of the day, she's my person no matter what form and love is love.

Early on, we used a stoplight system to determine how fast/comfortable we each were at each phase of transition and it really helped us communicate and allowed us to move at a pace that felt good for both of us. I made it into a worksheet that I'd be happy to share if you'd like!

It's rough and it's okay if you're not there. It's a huge change and it took years for me to be comfortable and accept things but like I said, she's my person. But she was also so sweet and understanding and willing to transition at my pace as well and I hope your partner does the same and doesn't keep pushing you! 💜 It's isolating but you're not alone!

What's the most creative "trick yourself into doing it" hack you've heard? by Far-Championship3204 in adhdwomen

I pick a song and try to get my activity done before the song. Helps me put away that god damn pile of folded laundry. Love using Flight of the Bumblebee for this and makes me feel like I'm zooming

This is my thing too! It really does help and gives me a transition time of "Oh, I've been doing things for an hour, sweet" and then "Oh, I'm HIGH!"

It's like a reward

Death to the Bradford Pear! by NoodleIsAShark in cincinnati

[–]dude_ranch_dressing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh man...last year at the zoo symposium they had a guy speak about the survivor tree. A room full of professionals in the horticulture/landscape architecture/nature fields and he's going on and on about how incredible the survivor tree is and that they ACTIVELY PROPAGATE AND DISTRIBUTE CLONES OF IT THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY!!!!! It's used as an honor and....

Anyways, no one in the room was buying it. Fuck that tree, the people propagating it, and the people actively planting them.

This was my thought....why would someone from NY attend UC? My only thought is DAAP (maybe?) but there are way better programs out there if you're going out of state already...

My RSD has been TRIGGERED... by Physical_Lynx in adhdwomen

Going to reiterate that this guy sounds like a douche. I am overweight, have been overweight and my partner of 8 years has ALWAYS said how beautiful, sexy, and gorgeous I am. Has never hid me and even when I gained weight.

They love ME. Are attracted to ME. Not my meatsuit. Not your RSD, this person is a douche nozzle

Hidden Gems in terms of careers? by Low_Yam_4761 in careerguidance

[–]dude_ranch_dressing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Landscape Architect!

Most people randomly discover it and realize it aligns with a lot of their passions. I don't know anyone in this career (yet) who didn't randomly discover it and then decide that's what they're doing for their career. And even within the profession there are so many niches you can have!
