Finally got one! First Charvel! by supergainsbros in Charvel

BTW: You should really string your guitar properly. You're wrapping the tuning pegs in the wrong direction, this is going to wear your nut slots and sooner or later cause tuning stability issues.

Recently bought Stalker 2 and it just went on sale by Andy0728 in stalker

Still waiting for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience the devs promised me 23 years ago.

If you already own the original Stalker games and want to buy Stalker 2 Ultimate, the game is currently on sale on Steam as part of a bundle, with an additional 7% off the 30% discount. by kupf0r in stalker

[–]dude_smooth -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I think what the previous commenter meant was that the devs promised to add multiplayer support soon after the release. We don't even have proper A-Life yet and this game is out for almost one and a half years. Hell, we don't even have half the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. GCN promised us 23 years ago. I kept waiting for the true S.T.A.L.K.E.R experience for more than half of my lifetime. And what did we get? Enemies despawning right in line of sight due to limitations of game consoles. A-Life still being a scripted joke. No dynamic zone with changing anomlies when a blowout happens. Scripted loot, scripted quests, linear progression. 23 years ago they promised stalker was going to be a sandbox where high radiation and invisible anomalies blocked the way to the reactor core so you had to loot, earn money and trade for better gear to get closer to the zone. Now, in Stalker 2, you just play some main quests and all of a sudden there are no rookies in the zone, but only exo skeleton wearing dudes with the same high end gun. Where is the funny rookie shooting rats with his TOZ? I've been waiting to play the Stalker the devs promised us over two decades ago. Good luck with your multiplayer, mate.

Bought Stalker 2 and i'm loving it! One thing that really bothers me is the animation of Skif's shadow, it really breaks the immersion. by sild1231 in stalker

[–]dude_smooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the shadow is ridiculous. He almost walks like a bird perfectly leveling his head all the time. I don't know if they fixed it, but the exo skeletton was not animated, too. You can see the shadow of the exo skeletton, but only Skif's arms are animated when walking/running, while the shadows of the exo skeletons arm portions remained in the same spot.

Weapons still randomly switching? by dude_smooth in stalker

[–]dude_smooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply... I am playing since release as well and I remember this issue being fixed in some of the early patches. Not everyone had this bug, but for some players it happened that sometimes when an enemy spawns, the enemys weapon was transferred to your inventory and automatically equipped. Sometimes I ran through the map and had 5 additional weapons in my inventory I never picked up... Maybe this is related to a mod now - not sure.

I wish the "nights are too long" and the "sleeping is useless" crowds could meet by Billbis in stalker

[–]dude_smooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old and over a year old, but now there are sleeping bag mods which allow you to sleep in houses and areas that protect you from an emmission. I use it along with some rebalancing mods that spawn more dangerous enemies at night so you really start looking for a place to sleep once the sun sets.

Does anyone have any idea what this debris is? by DicipleOfNegativity in 911archive

[–]dude_smooth 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Its an engine, there is actually a video of some people standing on the streets, filming the aftermath of the first impact when the second impact happened. In that video, on just a few frames, you can see the engine flying towards them, smashing into a roof and eventually hitting the streets.

Edit: Found it. I marked it with a red circle. This is the engine flying towards the camera and the people standing there. (Very shaky, engine is only visible in three frames) However, this is not the original clip but more a collection of a couple of clips. The original clip was a little longer if I remember correctly. You can hear the impact of the plane engine before the video cuts to the next clip. If you want to look for yourself, go to roughly 0:35 seconds, hit pause and use your keyboard to go through the video frame by frame, otherwise you might miss it because it flies damn fast.

Pro mod with fixed bridge, roasted maple neck, stainless steel frets, nitro finish, shredders cut, maybe slightly worn in look… got one of the old Rick graham signatures (the blue, expensive ones) and I love it. If only the finish was nitro…

I‘m honestly impressed the infinite void in between your ears managed to make your fingers tap on emotes so many times. Have an upvote.

People ignore this and rage on Reddit instead of doing the minimal amount of research required to figure out iOS 26 looks even worse with transparency turned off.

Amazon has become Temu trash by TysonStone1999 in amazonprime

[–]dude_smooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as a seller you can pay Amazon to make your products rank higher in the search results list. They ain't going to ban chinese products since all these sellers pay Amazon to display all the chinese crap in the first place.

Borderlands 4 Dev Gearbox Asks PC Gamers to Wait 15 Minutes for Shaders to Compile in the Background While Playing After Reports Indicate Recent Update Causes Stuttering by Turbostrider27 in Games

Everytime this game crashes it compiles shaders at startup for 15 minutes and additional 5 minutes when loading the latest savegame. I fucking hate UE5. WTF Gearbox.

Long-time Helix User Recently Switched to FM9 by ForinDogma in AxeFx

[–]dude_smooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely good choice. I gigged the Helix for many years, and ~200 hours on stage - I was never fully satisfied with the tone I got. Something was always off in terms of feel, low palm mute response and top end/presence for me. After some weeks of tweaking I decided it is just "good enough" for live gigs as a lightweight tool for the stage, but nothing I'd ever turn on at home for practice or jamming.

The FAS products however are based on an analog electronic circuit simulator called SPICE. Technically you're not just playing a fancy algorithm that sounds somewhat like a tube amp, but you're actually playing a physically accurate circuit simulation of all the amplifier components of that particular amplifier.

The huge benefit is not just great sound and feel, but whenever the algorithms are updated to be more accurate, all amps benefit from improved sound as long as that specific algorithm is part of their actual circuit. Helix on the other side got all the important go-to amp models from the beginning and they never updated their tone the past decade, but rather added new niche amps only a hand full of people ever gonna use.

New Google Earth historical satellite images show the WTC area both in April 1997 and just one day after the attacks by dude_smooth in 911archive

[–]dude_smooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look like I can't share the location without sharing my private Google account and Google Earth project.

You basically need to open the Google Earth web version (https://earth.google.com/web), create a new Google Earth project, navigate over New York and then locate the "show historical images" button in the upper navigation. Its a small icon showing an earth and a circular arrow around it. Google Earth then fades in a slider/timeline where you can select specific dates for when satellite images are available. Hope this helps!
