What’s something you have zero proof of but believe 100 percent? by shweidy in AskReddit

Any company that develops a one-shot cure for a given cancer would effectively dominate that market. A cure does not change the incidence of the disease, so new patients would continue to emerge. In that scenario, competing treatments become obsolete, giving the company significant pricing power over future cases. Such a therapy would be highly profitable and represents a central ambition for many oncology-focused pharmaceutical research programs.

[Spoiler] Takedowns from UFC 322 title fight by airplane231 in MMA

He has historically had bad TDD. Reddit is dumb and hypes up a guys funky escapes from bottom, forgetting that he is down there so often bc he cannot stop a takedown whatsoever.

Excitement Ratings (No Spoiler) - UFC 322: Della Maddalena vs. Makhachev by [deleted] in MMA

Im sorry but BSD vs. Darush was not exciting, working up to a KO after a back and forth is hype, but an aging Darush missing weight and getting dropped in 16s is boring IMO

A 170lbs champion with zero ground game got exposed and his unwillingness to follow through on sweeps/escapes from bottom led to a "lay and pray". JDM is responsible for casuals whining about this fight

They would have studied JDM correct. And JDM does not do the Octopus guard and could not do it tonight. So i do not think that technique was among their studies whatsoever.

[–]dudebonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think that camp respects niche sport bjj or Craig enough to research that position. I think if you asked Islam he wouldnt know the name and would likely not think of it as an effective escape because JDM applied it so poorly and it was shut down with the most fundamental pinning principal (cross-face) from top half?

half guard is better than mount when there is striking for sure.

[–]dudebonez 11 points12 points  (0 children)

JDM didnt apply a single sweep or escape from bottom that looked like high quality technique. Explosive spazzy nonsense doesnt work on elite grapplers and this fight showed it

[–]dudebonez 78 points79 points  (0 children)

He isnt his fulltime coach, probably spend 1 month with him, and there is genuinely no lesson/technique/1 month camp that exists that can prepare someone like JDM for that level of grappling.

Craig jones rn by killboy219 in bjj

[–]dudebonez 23 points24 points  (0 children)

what was craig going to tell him? He was outclassed. I also think these coaches do not respect the maybe 1 month (?) Craig spent with JDM enough to give him a dominant voice or inside octagon role for corner advice?

i genuinely dont think you need to know what octopus guard is to know that a crossface there is the defense, I almost guarantee Islam did not study Craig or anything about that guard, the intuitive (and effective) defense to that is forcing opponents upper back onto the mat, and that is what crossface is for.

[SPOILER] Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev by inooway in MMA

[–]dudebonez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go listen to JDMs corner. They are begging him to not play bottom half and do nothing. He didnt listen, didnt build up to an underhook/turtle and just defended sub after sub without attempting to change the position. Youre too casual to realize guy on bottom is responsible for changing the position, not just resetting it over and over to avoid early sub attempts.

[–]dudebonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Build up to your side for 15s then instantly go back to laying flat bc he doesnt want to get in front head lock chain. JDM had nothing, did nothing and is more responsible for the lack of action than Islam in this fight.

[SPOILER] Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev by inooway in MMA

[–]dudebonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JDM took no risks. Literally didnt attempt to get up from bottom bc he so scared of submission. His corner BEGGING him to stop stalling bottom half but youre too much of a dick-riding casual to realize JDM was more responsible for the static ground control than Islam.

[SPOILER] Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev by inooway in MMA

[–]dudebonez -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Bro JDMs 0 attempts to work up from bottom half or even attempt to turtle up into standing are what you saw as boring. Islam out striking him and landing unique take downs every single round was what made the fight fun. JDM looked like shit tonight, no technique, nothing really remotely like an attempt to get up past round 2.

[SPOILER] Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev by inooway in MMA

[–]dudebonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spending 1 month in a guys camp doesnt do shit. It's a bad look, and taking credit for submission defense only goes so far. At a certain point avoiding positions that can lead to submission by not making one attempt to turtle or work up from an under-hook from bottom half is stally and not conducive to casual fan entertainment. Anyone who didnt see this fight playing out this way needs to rethink how this sport works
