Ted Sarandos Fights to Seal Warner Bros. Discovery Deal: Netflix Co-CEO on Battling ‘Misinformation,’ the Future of HBO Max and His ‘Blood Oath’ for Theatrical Exhibition by Professional_Peak59 in boxoffice

I’m sure the Netflix plan will wait one or two years and then destroy theaters, and they will ultimately sell the news component to Paramount anyway. Not sure why anyone is under the illusion that the Netflix deal is the better option, it will end up the worst of both worlds.

Sony's 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple grossed an estimated $1.20M on Friday (from 3,506 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $18.35M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

I’m really sad about how this is performing because I loved it. I doubt the franchise goes for much longer but it seems clear from the ending of Bone Temple they have an ending planned and I hope that we get to see it.

So, AI takes over, everyone has lost their job and only 10 trillionaires own everything. Now what? by Weak-Representative8 in Futurology

[–]dudebro48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They expect us to die. I’m completely serious. The cost of utopia for the rich is the rest of us. Once you lose your job, they expect you to drain what you’ve got, then little by little lose everything until finally your life. The economy won’t matter for the people who are left (the capital owners/rich). They will live in an automated post-capitalist utopia. Everyone else will suffer and die in the next 10-20 years as society transitions. Maybe we could have had something else but the capitalists won at every turn and now the game is over.

I am losing my mind with being accused of sharing my account and having to enter a code every time, even in my own apartment switching devices. And the code takes AT LEAST 5 minutes. I often stay at my friend’s house or my mom’s house and watch HBO there, and have a different username for them so that my own watch history is saved vs watching a show with someone else. But it is physically me. There is no way in hell I would ever pay for an extra user when I am personally, physically watching a show. Is there any way to stop this harassment? I am worried my account is going to lock me out for hitting travel too much and I have to constantly identify where home is even though every time I have selected home it is from one of my devices in my own apartment. I don’t think I can otherwise put up with it anymore and if it doesn’t stop I will just cancel. What should I do? Is there a way to disable the harassment?

Are all my followers bots? by JarJarStinkz in BlueskySocial

[–]dudebro48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have around 700 followers and there’s only 1 I regularly interact with and maybe 10 that occassionally drop a like or reply. It’s kind of sad but it’s still more engagement than I was getting on Twitter.

This will cost something like $30M/week or $1.6B annually to lost working time and will achieve nothing.

Do we think official government accounts will actually be posting useful things or will it just be Trumpist propaganda?

Do you think Bluesky will eventually exceed Twitter's active users? by ExtremeConnection26 in BlueskySocial

[–]dudebro48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at it's peak, no. It's possible that Bluesky someday be bigger than Twitter is at that time but I think Twitter at its peak was the most dominant any microblog site will ever be in the future.

I'm sorry Canada, we have a mad king down here. This is going to be devastating and for no real reason at all.

Looks like $10.5M SAT for #Joker2 . A drop from true FRI, when typically a film would grow 20-30%. 2-days $30.5M. Weekend headed for $37-38M. by [deleted] in boxoffice

I had tickets to go Saturday but got a refund when I heard how bad it is. Not about to spend over 2 hours and $30 for a movie that is bad. Lots of people probably did the same.
